I've been considering transferring to a different school this entire semester. Granted, one's freshman year of college is difficult by nature, but I've found that I'm not a great fit for Stanford. I thought I would love it here, and I definitely have enjoyed the academics and the weather/scenery, but I don't think I'm getting the full "college experience". The party scene is a total joke, the girls are not attractive in general, and it's difficult to find people who want to watch any kind of professional sporting event. Because of these obvious factors and a number of other contributors, I'm probably going to come back for the fall semester and leave after that.
Schools I'm considering transferring to:
UNC-Chapel Hill
University of Texas
The Ohio State University
UCLA

Thoughts?

None of those schools compare academically with Stanford, but if you want to party and go to sporting events, U of Texas is the way to go IMO.

Good luck with whichever school you choose.

Whoa, that's kind of a big change for schools. Like TheCity said, you'd be hard pressed to find academics (and a degree) that would compete with Stanford. But the way it seems, UCLA has a good mix of academics and fun.

My experience in college was that people were unhappy with their school if they were not involved in anything. If you haven't done so, find a club, sports team, or ensemble at Stanford that pairs with your interests and commit to it. I can't speak for your interests, but I'm sure that a place like Stanford can offer you some things that you could look back in retrospect as really special.

Look, no offense, but you're an idiot. You are in one of the country's premier schools, paying roughly $50,000 a year to be there, and from the sound of it doing fine academically, and you are going to transfer for cuter girls and better partying????

Seriously, pull your head out. The point of college is not four years of aimless partying. It is for training for your profession, and making the friends and contacts that will help you professionally. I don't know what major you are but I can tell you that in most cases seeing Stanford on your resume is going to give you a HUGE advantage over a party school.

False. A journalism degree from the University of Texas is more well respected within the journalism community than one from Stanford, which is part of why I am leaning so heavily towards going there.

Texas is a really good school in general.

Do what you got to do.

I've transfered twice, the thing is man, your probably running away from your problems. I did it, and take it from experience; the same problems are going to turn up at any school your attending.

Thoughts?UNC. Excellent party scene, and I've heard they have a top notch journalism program. I had a professor who was trying to get me to go there for grad school.
