Billy Bragg is the king of anti war. His song "price of oil" will show even the loyalist american the bush is a cunt.

ha ha, i hope your not fucking serious. Those are some of the most ridiculous lyrics I’ve ever read. I don't support the war, in fact I question the actually reasons behind 9/11. www.standdown.net brings up some interesting facts and ideas, but seriously, you are an embarrassment to 'STREET PUNX.' I hope one day you try to talk to actual people about this and you get punched in the face.
Anyone want to tell me how protesting is being anti-american?

STREET PUNX RULE! Blink 182 doesn't not suck ass. They are one of my favourite bands, personally. I like a wide variety of music, and am willing to accept the fact that Blink 182 is mainstream and enjoy their music. What, you think you're punk? You think you're punk because you can pick on bands that are mainstream? That makes me sick. Your grammar is poor, and your spelling is almost as worst, and you are trying to get major scene points by saying 'Street Punks Rule' ... however, incorrectly spelled on your behalf. It's people like you that can't accept good music and try so hard to be punk that puts shame to the genre as a whole. Your name is rancid_punx, and that basically sums up everything you represent. You are not a hardcore punk rocker like you think you are, so stop trying to be one before you get destroyed in these forums.

Letting a song control your opinions on something is the same thing you're accusing Bush of. Billy Bragg is "warping" your mind just as you think Bush is doing to America.

I myself am anti-war, but you shouldn't let someone tell you what to believe. They may have totaly incorrect 'facts.' Haha, I would have to agree with TakingBackRufio, you are NOT a street punk. A punk is a punk, and you are not a punk. Only reason we have things like street punk is because people couldn't handle the punk fashion set forth by the pistols, clash, ramones, etc.

"Release the Dogs" by Boys Sets Fire, best current protest song I can think of. Always remember, this country was founded on protest.
"Ohio" by Crosby, Stills and Nash was a great one from the Vietnam era. (written before the Kent State killings too) There were a lot of great songs made to promote public disapprovement of the war.
Sidenote: I have to agree, those Billy Braggs lyrics are pretty rediculous. and yeat, you did own on that burn to Rancidpunk, god that was funny stuff...nice job.

Another good Boy Sets Fire protest song is "Eviction Notice." It is more of a Bush protest though.

there is no need to attack the street punk dude.. i think it is dumb to insult bands like blink 182 but i do agree that those types of bands should really focus on real issues.. because while you and your girlfriend are crying in each other's arms, thousands of people are being massacred by corporate death squads in central america :-D.. now doesn't that just make you wanna sing along? now i dont hate those bands, i jus think they should really open their eyes

My favorite protest song is "US" by Sweatshop Union. It, like every other one, criticizes Bush, etc....but it also criticizes the United States Citizens. There are lines like "the cycle starts and ends with US....but we can change it today it's just all on US" and "So, Fuck the News, Fuck the critics, Fuch their views, and if you sit it let it happen then Fuck you, too." It's no more intelligent than most songs out there, but at least it lays the blame on more than one person.

music is a form of entertainment...it doesnt all need to have a message

i agree. music should have a personal message for the people that listen to it, it shouldn't tell you what to think or how to act. if political music touches you personally, then by all means listen to it...

there's no need at this point...the democrats aren't making any decisions..when they make decisions that are affecting this country, then they should be analyzed...why write a song that protests againsts someone's ideas when the ideas haven't become a reality

I think that the current wave of Anti Bush songs is getting pretty annoying. I don't agree with everything he has done or plans on doing, but I just feel like some of these bands (which seemed to never have political leanings before this) are merely trying to cash in on this trend. Some bands are serious about politics and truly believe in what they say, and I respect that. Others seem to just be making an Anti-Bush song just because it's the thing to do (see: Beastie Boys, Icubus, etc.).

Yeah, I'd like to know that to. Calling someone an Idiot such as Justin_stacy did is typical and immature. Are you really that mature? Because I don't here any other politicans running their mouths calling people stupid. Yes, the kid that started this forum is the prime example of "I don't know what is going on in the world, but I'll listen to what The Casualties say and say fuck America." That is one of my problems as well - don't say there is a problem unless you can find one.

Liberal slant? So now your saying the truth takes on a liberal slant? That's a weird characteristic of a centralist conservative. FOX news network has been accused over and over again of false information. For gods sake, Bill O'relly lied about where he grew up. Can you trust what he has to report? I don't think so. this is from the lies.com article (actually, its a blog, so i'm am immediately skeptical)
"So, they're counterattacking. My name is no longer Bill O'Reilly. It's "gasbag," "bully," "liar" and "blowhard." Those descriptions are not confined to opinion pieces but are used in hard news stories as well. There's good news, though. Never again will some news organizations be able to claim fairness or nonpartisanship. They've been exposed for all to see. Excuse me for a moment - something just went whizzing by my head.
Hard news stories referred to him as a "gasbag"? Wow. Except that, of course, it isn't true. See the following debunking from Spinsanity's Brenden Nyhan: O'Reilly continues dissembling. Those terms were used in opinion pieces, or, in the case of straight news stories, were directly attributed to people like Franken.
(Update: Alerted by commenter John Q., I actually followed up on that "gasbag" reference in Newsweek, and it's true: the magazine did refer to him as such in introducing an interview with rapper Ludacris in a feature for the "Newsmakers" section -- Newsweek's equivalent of People magazine, sort of. Still not a hard news story, as O'Reilly claimed, but not an opinion piece, either. The Spinsanity piece makes this clear; I didn't. Oops.)"
so...he's wrong.
not only that, he gets into the semantics of the term 'used'...this isn't the lewinski scandal, we are past "that depends on what your defenition of is is...."
not once does he actually mention a case in which he lied, or specifically identify a "lie".

and the speedkill.org 'article' is pretty ridiculous as well. first of all, i saw that interview the night it aired, and that guy was an asshole. he totally disrespected everyone that died in that attack and everyone that lost a loved one in the attack. secondly, the author claims that O'reilly didnt' try to terminate the interview when he says:
"O'REILLY: I hope your mother is not watching this because you -- that's it. I'm not going to say anymore.
GLICK: OK.
O'REILLY: In respect for your father...
GLICK: On September 14, do you want to know what I'm doing?
O'REILLY: Shut up. Shut up.
GLICK: Oh, please don't tell me to shut up.
O'REILLY: As respect -- as respect -- in respect for your father, who was a Port Authority worker, a fine American, who got killed unnecessarily by barbarians...
GLICK: By radical extremists who were trained by this government...
O'REILLY: Out of respect for him...
GLICK: ... not the people of America.
O'REILLY: ... I'm not going to...
GLICK: ... The people of the ruling class, the small minority.
O'REILLY: Cut his mic. I'm not going to dress you down anymore, out of respect for your father.
clearly, he did terminate the interview.
thirdly, the author claims that O'reilly is wrong because "He claims "Glick was saying without a shred of evidence that President Bush and Bush the elder were directly responsible for 9/11. Now that kind of stuff is not only loony, it's defamation." But he's not. He's saying Dubya is continuing the legacy, by bombing Afghanistan, of his father, who armed the precursor to al Qaeda in Afghanistan in the 80s. He's not mentioning 9/11!
the man did refer to 9/11 because he stated, "Our current President now inherited a legacy from his father that's responsible for training militarily, economically, and situating geopolitically the parties involved in the alleged assassination and murder of my father and countless thousands of others."
his father died on 9/11...so therefor, mentioning his death is refering to 9/11.
he then goes on to make the claim that Oreilly, "should be sued by Connelly for libel."
The same could be said for Glick.
again, this doesn't mention any 'lie', it is simply an opinion of how Oreilly handled an interview, no where in that interview does he lie, and the author of this "article" try his damndest to make it look as if he did.
i don't know, i guess when you said he has a long record of lying i was expecting something a little better than these 2 links...
