I get that the lyrics aren't intelligent and have no depth. I could list off a number of respectable punk bands I like that no one here has anything to say about, but if I mentioned the Casualties, I'm written off as some kind of moronic fucking simpleton? I think it's easier to get away with liking a random alt. rock band with "meaningful lyrics" and calling it artsy or different than it is to be a Casualties fan. Dissing them is popular.

The kid's scumbag friends all backed him up, purposely trying to create some stupid division in the scene which I didn't care about at the time, but now I completely agree with. I never even gave a second thought to crust until I lived in Baltimore and found out what it was really all about. Now, though, the crust scene really picked up in Baltimore, from what I understand. Baltimore used to have a pretty good punk scene, but when the crusties moved into the city however long ago, it caused a rift, and there would be fighting at every show until the punks moved out and the bands disintegrated.

Crusties try to overcompensate by starting venues in their houses, but what that really does is take business away from the punk venues already established in the city, and because of this, the older venues now have a better chance of shutting down. They eventually do, and the crusties eventually get evicted from their "squat." By now the scene is dead. And being the lousy, low-brow train-hoppers they are, the crusties usually pick up and find another city to destroy.

I've heard this story a few times, and it's always the same cycle. I heard about it happening in Philly and Nashville, and saw it happen in Baltimore. You think Baltimore is cool? Go to pheer.com and check the upcoming shows. There used to be 4 times as many punk shows as there is now. It's no fucking coincidence. Crusties destroy good scenes.

Where to start, wow, I guess first off, I've never drank, smoked, or done drugs in my entire life. I don't have dreads. I have a full time job. I don't shower that often and I sew my clothes to conserve. I have no desire to lobby in/for a sysem that I have no faith in. Making money to have control over people is the exact reason I /despise/ making money in the first place.

I listen to just about every kind of punk sub-genre there is. Yes, I mostly listen to crust, but I also listen to a lot of Oi and Street punk. I feel no symapthy for anyone bashing the Casualties, they are probably the absolute worst example of street punk there is. I think it's pretty funny you criticize "crusties" for sitting around smoking pot, while we are making fun of a band who does nothing but sit around and get drunk.

And from your last post I think it's safe to say you've never really met any crust kids. You've met a bunch of scumfucs. Everyone hates scumfucs, they destroy scenes/communites.

As for starting venues, I come from a city where the only "punk" venue is a piece of shit and the majority of the underground punk community refuses to support it. So we start and run our own, we have about two, three if you really push for it's use, punk spaces in this city.

You're right, getting yelled at a show is totally worse than rhetoric that advocates violence against someone for their sexual preference. I listen to just about every kind of punk sub-genre there is. Yes, I mostly listen to crust, but I also listen to a lot of Oi and Street punk. I feel no symapthy for anyone bashing the Casualties, they are probably the absolute worst example of street punk there is. I think it's pretty funny you criticize "crusties" for sitting around smoking pot, while we are making fun of a band who does nothing but sit around and get drunk.

And from your last post I think it's safe to say you've never really met any crust kids. You've met a bunch of scumfucs. Everyone hates scumfucs, they destroy scenes/communites.

As for starting venues, I come from a city where the only "punk" venue is a piece of shit and the majority of the underground punk community refuses to support it. So we start and run our own, we have about two, three if you really push for it's use, punk spaces in this city.
