So I finally got a hold of a copy of An American Crime after being anxiously anticipating this movie for roughly a year plus. (For any of you Hard Candy-style, or all around Ellen Page fans), you might also know of this movie that has been in limbo for some time with reports of it surfacing on Showtime as a premier there rather than a theatrical release, I just couldn't wait and grabbed it off mininova. Now, going into this I had known the background and read several threads on imdb about this, but I don't think I have ever seen a movie like this before. At a couple points I was near tears and that is not because of how weak I am or that I think Ellen Page is so hot that it is terrible to see the things happen in the movie that happen, it is just that the events in the movie made my stomach sick.

I was wondering if anybody else has had the opportunity (I guess you can call it that) of seeing this film, and if you have been waiting for it, it is available on bittorents so you can check it out there.

This was one of the most horrific crimes I have ever read about. For those who have not read the events regarding the torture and murder of Sylvia Likens (http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/young/likens/1.html), it will make your stomach turn. What a sadistic and senseless crime.

Also, I did find a copy of the film, and I felt it was well done, in particular Ms. Keener's performance. Not amazing, but i guess i'm glad i watched it.

supposedly not as graphic as the girl next door film, but still it was a little much for me at times since i knew it was a true story and ellen page is my favorite actress not to mention her frail and undeveloped stature she sported in the film

I watched this a few years ago and it stayed with me. Its pretty traumatizing. It's not particularly graphic, but the violence is so powerfully done that it makes you feel a bit sick.

Catherine Keener and Ellen Page are absolutely incredible as well.
