Any advice on how to get yourself out of a crush? 'Cause I really like my best friend, but I don't want to because it makes things kinda awkward.

the only ones i can think of are things like little confidence, but they arent really big things. imo, she has no flaws that make her unattractive.

i really dont know why its bad, but ive been keeping it on the DL for...a little over a year? im not really sure any more. i tried other girls, but none of them really seemed to have worked, and it always just seemed to come back to her.

well, before she said to me "i see you as my older brother, not really anything else", and she didnt know i liked her. it just came up. but later, she also told me that i was "one of 2 guys i ever met who was different from all the rest", so i kinda think she would just be weirded out if i told her.

You know that guy on TLC, Paul Mckenna? The one who hosts the "I Can Make You Thin" show, yes. I was watching one night because it just seemed so interesting, and he did something to the people so that they wouldn't have love for the food they craved anymore, and think of it as disgusting. There were some finger tap things and little exercises that would not make you love or even have interest the food anymore. I'm guessing that the same thing could work for a crush, so try it out.

Yeah, if she really, truly believed that, then she would've have shown interest by now. Unless she's like the best-friend I liked for a few months this year who just leads you on. I can't fucking stand her nowadays.

As far as the omg she's my friend I don't want to make it weird thing, that is silly. Chances are in a couple years... or a couple years after that... you won't be talking to this girl anyway. If she's worth it you might as well take a chance.
It's probably not much of a chance, but eh... whatever. The good thing about getting rejected is at least you know, and then it becomes much easier to move on to someone else.

There are many reasons girls don't want to date awesome guys they are attracted to aside from not having interest. Here are a few...
A. They have self esteem issues and think they aren't pretty enough, awesome enough, you name it
B. They are sluts and know they will just end up cheating on him, and don't want to hurt the good guy
C. They want good guys as friends because they can have a pseudo-relationship with a hot awesome guy and not get their heart broken that way
And the most likely one...
D. Some weird combo of all of the above.
Girls can be awful silly sometimes.

This is a good one. If you tell her, explain that whatever happens you still want to be friends. Try make it comfortable or something. If it goes your way, then that's good. But if it doesn't try and make her understand that you don't want to lose your friendship with her over this, and I bet she'll understand.

alright now you've got three options.
1. get a girlfriend and spend less time with your friend until things have burned down between you and your heart. then dump your girl (or don't) and start spending more time with her again.
2. don't ever tell her, and have one of those crushes like in the movies where you are completely in love and eventually tell her when you've been put in the spotlight about it all embarrassed and shit.
3. kill her.
