Which of these recent Academy Award wins that were initially considered shocking upsets have you most come to agree with, even if it angered you initially?

I picked Crash.
While Brokeback Mountain should've still won, Crash is nevertheless a good film.

I picked The Lives of Others. I thought that deserved to win hands down.

I did not like Crash one bit.

I also picked Crash because I think Brokeback Mountain, despite being a great movie, was slightly overhyped due to its subject matter.

I picked Pan's. Not only do I think The Lives of Others deserved it more, I actually think After the Wedding deserved it more.

Dances with Wolves was a gorgeous, sweeping, epic masterpiece. As much as i loved goodfellas, i have really come to realize just how amazing that movie was.

Pan's Labyrinth was astonishing. An intelligent, imaginitive piece of art. Expertly written and acted with a potent fusion of violence and fantasy, with rich sets and imagery. I can understand if it were only adequately made, but it was a masterstroke by Del Toro. Lives of Others was brilliant (and granted much more of an understated movie, with Muhe giving a performance worthy of nod itself). but PL was once in a lifetime type movie for me.

haha, my head says Ralph Feinnes but my heart says Tommy Lee Jones. The Fugitive is one of my all time favorites.

Are people understanding the question? Cause I swear whenever I talk about Shakespeare in Love deserving it more than Saving Private Ryan, I get ripped to shreds, yet it is winning here.

Still don't agree with Rocky for best picture. One of the most overrated, underwhelming movies in history. (and guess where I'm from!) The academy must not have seen Network or Taxi Driver.

All the President's Men, too; probably the second most interesting movie about journalism ever made, just behind His Girl Friday and just ahead of Reds.

While Goodfellas is a great movie, I think Dances With Wolves deserved it more because of how epic it is. The scope that film entails is magnificent and Costner may get a lot of shit for his later work, but he proved then and there why he is a great director as well as a damn fine actor (even if he hasn't been consistent lately - Open Range was spectacular).

I will always say Saving Private Ryan was the better film and even though I enjoy Rocky, it should not have won the Oscar. The competition that film had was tremendous and I don't like how it's underdog qualities warranted itself a win over fucking Taxi Driver or Network - that right there proves the Academy doesn't always know what it's talking about when giving out awards.

I can not believe that Dances with Wolves beat Goodfellas. Goodfellas is a fan-freaking-tastic film. Dancing with wolves was decent but... just no.

Lives of Others.

I wanted Pan's to win, but looking back, Lives is a phenomenal film and Pan's is mediocre.

The worst upset is still Pan's beating Children of Men for cinematography. Who the hell decided that?

Children of Men was too overlooked by the Academy. Shame, too ... such a terrific movie.
