These are what you consider to be the best bands of all time. Not necessarily your favorite, tho they may be the same thing. They are not for me, only in some cases.

1.The Beatles
2.The Clash
3.Queen
4.Led Zeppelin
5.The Cure

5.The Cure That seriously makes alot of sense ... but I think the Ramones should get an honorable mention, at least.

Even though I dislike the music from almost all the groups mentioned above (minus The Ramones), I still respect them. So my list would probably look similar to one of lists above.

Strange, I didn't think it was possible to not like Led Zeppelin.

Not to be an ass or anything, but aren't you giving Bad Religion a little too much credit?

Yes, probably... I was contemplating putting them on there, but they are very influential, and I would have never heard the end of it if I put 311 on there.. ha ha..

I dont know, this is a toughie..

No comment on the Bee Gees?

1 - The Beatles
2 - U2
3 - Led Zepplin ( what they did for rock music )
4 - The Ramones
5 - Mxpx, Why? because they haven't changed and I like them. I know they aren't amazing like the Beatles, but their music alone made me get into punk.

For being a hardcore punk pioneer, and starting the whole sXe movement, they definitely deserve it.

The Ramones > Minor Threat.

IMO.

I agree. Plus, Minor Threat doesn't deserve a spot as one of the top five bands of all time.

1. The Beatles
2. Led Zeppelin
3. Pink Floyd

The Ramones are overrated. I'd put Husker Du on the list before the Ramones, but that's my personal preference.

Ok the Ramones, Minor Threat, and The Clash in no way deserve to be on a list like this. If any band that "helped start punk" deserves to be on the list it is "The Velvet Underground" and they don't even need to be that high.

The greatest bands and musicians of all time are the musicians whose music will endure and be well recieved in the future. The Ramones are only still well recieved because they're trendy right now, there music wasn't that good at all, in fact it sucked. Musicians like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, The Who, Willie Nelson and so on are the musicians whose music will endure and continue to be played. None of the music we listen to today will be remembered fondly. There is no way you can convince me that Brand New, Bad Religion, The Dead Kennedys or any of these acts will ever stand the test of time. If any music is going to endure it will be stuff that is mainstream and holds a powerful message. I can think of two artists right now that could possibly endure. Nas and Dave Matthews. Both of these artist are talented (whether you are mature enough to admit they have talent or not doesn't change that they are gifted musicians), and they are played enough that they could have staying power.

The reason for the lack of memorable music is Clear Channel and other large media conglomerates that dominate the market. And while I hate to make declarations against "the man" or "the corporation" in this case it is appropriate. Clear Channel picks what makes the air and it's their fault that they pick advertising dollars over talent. The number of artists which make it onto the radio with actual talent diminishes every day. In the past artists who had the most talent made it bigger because of their merit. Nowadays an advertising budget and a publicist are all you need to get popular. Hence the boy band craze of a few years ago, when labels put together bands and publicized the hell out of them. The result was platinum albums, radio play and tours with millions of gullible girls screaming their lungs out. Until Clear Channel's little monooply gets broken up there won't be much memorable music to be heard.

So this is my list of the greatest musicians of all time:
5.) The Who
4.) Led Zeppelin
3.) Jimi Hendrix (had he lived he'd have been number 1)
2.) Frank Sinatra
1.) The Beatles

Now of course it is worth mentioning that this is subjective, but I think all of you will agree these musicians are very gifted and some of the best to grace the stage.

When are people going to realize The Ramones were horrible? "Oh, but they did it first". Who cares? Bands are out there to perfect existing genres, and many bands have come and blown the Ramones away. They didn't even know a damn chord for their first few albums.

nards228

1) Good Charlotte
2) Avril Lavigne
2) Britney Spears
4) Simple Plan
5) P. Diddy

I just couldn't decide between Avril and Britney!

Yeah. I think i'm the only person i've ever met who doesn't enjoy Led Zepperlin. I have tons of respect for them, and credit them for everything, but they just aren't my thing.

Actually they didn't do it first.

When I was typing I had that in there, but I took it out before posting. There was punk before them, though they were more of a pop-punk band.
