thursday727
05/20/08, 08:05 PM
FOX
Class Dismissed (Midseason Sundays)-, working title Sit Down, Shut Up, is an upcoming American animated sitcom based on the short-lived Australian sitcom Sit Down, Shut Up. It is produced by Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Granada America and Tantamount. It was picked up by Fox in May 2008 and will debut in Spring of 2009 and will air Sundays at 8:30 PM, after The Simpsons.
The show was set up by Mitch Hurwitz, creator of Arrested Development; and Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum, from "Two and a Half Men". Hurwitz wrote the first script and decided to take a more supervisory role. Other executive producers will be Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein, former writers for The Simpsons.
The show will have animation that is set against a live-action backdrop and will be supervised by Mo Willems.

The Cleveland Show (Midseason Sundays) -an animated series and Family Guy Spin-off focusing on the character of Cleveland Brown and his family. It has been reported that the series will premiere in the Spring of 2009, with 13 episodes

Doll House - (Midseason Mondays) - In Dollhouse, Dushku plays a young woman named Echo, a member of a group of people known as "Actives" or "Dolls" who volunteered for the work in the Dollhouse. They give up five years of their lives, and at the end they receive a large sum of money and no memory of anything they did for the Dollhouse. The Dolls have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments. They're then hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies, and occasional good deeds. On missions, Actives are monitored internally (and remotely) by Handlers. In between tasks, they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic dormitory/laboratory, a hidden facility nicknamed "The Dollhouse". The story follows Echo, who begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.
Beyond Dushku's character, the show will also revolve around the people who run the mysterious "Dollhouse" and two other "Dolls", Victor and Sierra, who are friendly with Echo. Although the Actives are ostensibly volunteers, the operation is highly illegal and under constant threat from Paul Smith, a determined federal agent who has heard a rumor about the dolls on one end and an insane rogue Active on the other.

Fringe (Fall Tuesdays)-Fringe is the fourth TV Series co-created by J. J. Abrams (Felicity, Alias, Lost) and also his fourth collaboration with co-creators Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Alias, Mission Impossible III, Star Trek). It is produced by Warner Bros./Bad Robot, and deals with a research scientist named Walter Bishop (who Orci describes as "Frankenstein mixed with Albert Einstein"), his son, and a female FBI agent who brings them back together. The show is being described as a cross between The X-Files, Altered States and The Twilight Zone. Like Abrams' previous TV shows, it will have an overarching mythology. A two-hour, $10,000,000 pilot is being produced, where Walter is in a mental hospital. Jeff Pinkner will serve as executive producer/showrunner.Premieres: August 26, 2008

Do Not Disturb (Fall Wednesdays)-Do Not Disturb is an upcoming American television comedy series, which will debut as a Fall entry on FOX's primetime lineup in 2008, starting in September The multi-camera sitcom will be co-produced through Reveille Productions, Principato-Young Entertainment and Fox Television Studios. NBC
Merlin (Midseason sundays)-Merlin is a forthcoming British television drama series, currently in production as of April 2008. It is based around the legends of the mythical wizard Merlin and his relationship with King Arthur. Produced by independent production company Shine Limited for BBC Television, the series is designed to run in the same BBC One Saturday evening family drama slot as series such as Doctor Who and Robin Hood.
The programme will star Colin Morgan as Merlin, with Bradley James as Arthur, Richard Wilson as Gaius and Anthony Head as Uther. Consisting of an initial series of 13 episodes, it is currently due to be transmitted in the UK in the autumn of 2008.
The show became particularly notable in April 2008 when it was purchased by the NBC network in the United States, one of the so-called "big four" television networks in that country. It was the first British television series for many years to be purchased by a major television network in the US; usually British shows are broadcast on PBS or cable television stations there, with the main networks only purchasing the rights to remake US versions of foreign shows

Kings (Midseason Sundays) -Kings is an upcoming TV series coming to NBC, based on the David vs. Goliath story set in the modern day. The series is set in a modern day metropolis under siege where the fighting has gone on for too long and cost far too many lives. When David Shepherd (Christopher Egan), a brave young soldier, rescues the king's (Ian McShane) son from enemy territory, he sets events in motion that will finally bring peace. Suddenly, David is thrust into the limelight, earning the affections of women, including the king's daughter. When he's promoted to captain, he becomes the reluctant poster boy for hope. But for David, the line between his allies and enemies will blur as the power players in the kingdom go to great lengths to see him fall and there's no telling who will win. The series is scheduled to premiere Sundays at 10pm, during midseason 2009.

My Own Worst Enemy (Fall Mondays) -In the show, Henry Spivey (Christian Slater) is a middle-class efficiency expert living a humdrum life in the suburbs with a wife, two kids, a dog, and a minivan. Edward Albright is an operative who speaks 13 languages, runs a four-minute mile, and is trained to kill with his teeth. Henry and Edward are polar opposites who share only one thing in common -- the same body. When the carefully constructed wall between them breaks down, Henry and Edward are thrust into unfamiliar territory where each man is dangerously out of his element. “My Own Worst Enemy” explores the duality of a man who is literally pitted against himself. And it raises the question: who can you trust when you can't trust yourself?

The Office Spin Off (Midseason Thursdays) -NBC also announced that Greg Daniels and the producers will be creating a spin-off series to air after NBC Super Bowl coverage in early 2009. NBC said the spin-off will take audiences on "another comic journey, complete with new faces and new locations, but with the same unique sense of humor and brand of quality from Daniels and his creative team. It's the next chapter of what viewers have come to know and love about 'The Office'

Thursday Night Live ( 3 episodes during weeks leading up to general election Thursdays)-“ SNL THURSDAY NIGHT LIVE - Dubbed "TV's funniest and most influential political player" by Entertainment Weekly, “SNL” expands its "Weekend Update" coverage to Thursdays in primetime for three live half-hour shows beginning October 16. With all of the excitement and attention around "Saturday Night Live" during the presidential primaries, the anticipation for the show's take on this Fall’s election will be at a fever pitch, "SNL Thursday Night Live" will keep the momentum -- and the laughs -- going. The program is a production of Broadway Video in association with SNL Studios. Lorne Michaels is the executive producer

The Ex-List( Fall Fridays)" follows Bella Bloom - a single, 30-something, successful business owner who is surprised to learn from a psychic that she's already dated her future husband AND there's a catch: if she doesn't find him in the next year, she'll remain alone forever. During a bachelorette party for her sister Daphne, Bella learns from the psychic she must revisit her past relationships and sort through the mistakes to find her soul mate. Class Dismissed sounds... interesting?
The Cleveland Show, excited to see how this works out and how much crossover there is.
Do Not Disturb, based on Bateman directing the pilot, worth at least one viewing.
The Office Spin Off, really unsure about this.
The Goode Family, I may be way wrong but was the last animated show during prime time on ABC "Clerks?" Either way, Tuesday is a bad night for TV so bring it on.

I'm thinking the Cleveland Show is going to be an animated spoof of 70's and 80's family sitcoms. I think Cleveland is a strange choice since Quagmire is by far the most popular supporting character on Family Guy.

I've seen it.It's good for what it is. If you like 90's action movies (it was written by the same dude who wrote Lethal Weapon) and Samuel L Jackson , you'll like it.

Fringe (Fall Tuesdays)- could be worth a watch. Sounds interesting

Kings (Midseason Sundays) -based solely on the description given I am quite excited for this

Kath & Kim (Fall Tuesdays) - the original Australian version of this was pretty funny.

Worst Week (Fall Mondays) - interested to see how this translates. The original UK version of this was a typically English comedy in that it was based a lot around innuendo, prat-fall and differences in class.
Life On Mars (Fall Thursdays) -this show was brilliant over here. Hope the remake is as good

ABC probably won't be interesting to me next season. Fox has some potential (fringe and maybe doll house). Nbc should be fun with the Office spin off, kath and kim, and curusoe. And cbs has the potential to be good with the Mentalist. Simon Baker! Yum. I love him.

The Doll House one just confused me. I'll check out the pilot, if only for Eliza Dushku.

Fringe's plot doesn't interest me, but J.J. Abrams co-created it, so I'll definitely watch the pilot.

I'll check out The Cleveland Show, just because it's Cleveland. Same thing with the Office spin-off...I'll give them both a try.

Dollhouse sounds like it has a cool story, but I'm not a huge fan of Dushku, so if nothing else is on at that time, I might try it.

Jason Bateman is directing the pilot to Do Not Disturb, which makes me want to check it out. Class Dismissed also has an Arrested Development tie with Mitch Hurwitz, but I'm not sold on the part live action part animation.

Merlin and Crusoe might be decent, but again if nothing else is on at the time, I might watch them.

When was their prime?
Anytime before the past few years. I'm excluding children's shows though and speaking specifically of adult themed. I think everything lately has either been clones of the popular ones or are running out of steam (Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park all seem to have overstayed at this point)
