The reason Elliot Smith's death couldn't be ruled a suicide was due to small lacerations on his palms that appeared to result from being on the defensive. This has resulted in his girlfriend being a suspect in the death who happened to be the one to remove the knife after the death occured. It was hard enough to lose such an amazing talent to suicide, but if it turns to be a homicide, it would be even more tragic. Suicide would have been something voluntary. He didn't have to die, but if it was a homicide, it means it was taken from him.

Elliot Smith is probably the most underrated artist in music, even after his death. Homicide or suicide, it was a damn shame to lose something so extraordinary..

Gah. This is getting worse and worse. I was finally to the point of "Ok, he killed himself, I'm getting over it," but now with the chance of foul play, and the discription of the last minutes of his life and his suicide, and what the note said, both of which I'd probably rather not of known. Damn, I wish they could just say it was suicide, and everyone can just move on.
