Does anyone know if you buy a cd at a show rather than a store if the band gets more $$$?
I don't know about that, but i know that the band has to give a certain amount of money that they make out of merch to the venue.

the money the band gets mostly depends on how much they shell out on their recording. most labels will pay for the recording or pay 50%.. but that means you gotta give them 50% of the profit and all that crap. :santa:

I'm pretty sure they get more...it's cutting out the middle man...I've heard where venues charge to sell merch, but usually it's a flat rate, not a percentage of the total sold...so I'm guessing they get more if you buy at the show

Bands will buy a bunch of CDs from the label themselves and then go ahead and sell them at their show. So you're both benefitting, considering it's always cheaper at the show.
