i understand some people like it but really its kinda dumb and requires no talent.
One of my least favorite musical techniques.

It's much harder to pig squeal than to sing to a pop punk band standard and certainly far harder than a standard scream.
well i disagree cause i tried it and i got it down in like 5 minutes and yes deffenitly not hard to sing a pop-punk song lol.

To do a correct pig squeal its hard. Most bands now adays cant do it and will just to it as while saying BREEEEE. A band I can stand during the pig squeal is a deathcore band from spain called the band apart. other than them most piq squeals piss me off.

you idiots do understand that in bands their vocal style or "pig squeal" is actually in the form OF WORDS/LYRICS. It isn't just some random noises they are putting in the song. It's hard taking words and making those kids of sounds.
you are straining your vocals/doing the reverse of your vocal chord and nodes. How the fuck isn't this harder and more dangerous? These people could have long term damage for doing it so much. Especially night and night out on tours.
I don't like this style of music at all but I can tell you it's harder to do then sing in a pop punk band or your standard "scream"

sorry i posted that twice

You're full of shit.
Pig Squeals are just stupid to do. It's not hard to actually do one. Neither is it hard to actually do a standard scream. However, getting good at either takes time and practice, and practicing pig squeals seems slightly ... hazardous. (Then again, I do practice whistle register which is probably just as dangerous, but at least vocal cords naturally move that way).
Wait, I'm confused. I'd always thought pig squeals referenced a specific type of inhale/exhale rapidly screaming?
Can you formulate those "squeals" into words/lyrics. Anyone can just make fucking noises, that's easy. You people don't realize how hard it is to drag that nonsense out into a whole song, with words.. and meaning. That definitely takes a toll on the vocal chords, no matter how stupid/lame it sounds or is.

Yeah, I watched the video and realized I was thinking of pretty much the opposite of that. That takes talent, although it is somewhat a form of cheating to extend your vocal range. (For instance, I think Don Vliet actually goes lower than that in a normal singing voice, but he also had about a five octave vocal range).

Not true. Well I should say that is half true. To do the crappy screams that a lot of bands are doing now is easy. To do a half way decent scream, and to do it right, without damaging your vocal cords takes a heck of alot more talent than a pig squeal.

False. Even if everyone could do it, most people wouldn't, because it's extremely obnoxious and tasteless. Who gives a fuck if the pig squeals are actually words; they could just be making random ass noises and no one would be the wiser. It's incoherent bullshit, difficult or not.

some people find vocalist who use auto tune obnoxious and tasteless, but that is beside the point. the difference and point is here that these noises are not easy to do in a band/music sense, and the way to make those sounds into words does take a toll on your vocals. It's common sense really. You don't really have a comfort zone for this style of singing like you do with just singing regular notes and having a computer fix it up in the end.

Honestly, I think the only reason so many people don't like it is because their brains simply can't register it as music for one reason or another.
I think pig squealing is an awesome innovation in music. It's also worldwide in it's scope.
It's simply a different sound. I dare to even say it's one of the most innovative vocals techniques to come into popular attention.
To say it is "stupid" or "obnoxious" is unfair and immature and disregards this musical outlet without even taking into consideration it's possibilities.

I think that good screaming is more about how much energy you put into it, compared to bad screaming which just sounds generic/shitty.
Good : Converge (well, at least Jane Doe), La Dispute, Pg. 99, City of Caterpillar, Botch, etc.
Bad : Underoath, Chiodos (I mean, I like them but they are kind of mediocre), Rise Against
