Okay...I love Drive Thru Records as much as the next guy - I think theyre amazing, everyone I know there is nothing short of amazingly nice..but all of the bulk signings may not work out for them.

Drive Thru has a huge cult following, and usually when they sign a band people make it a point to listen to their music and see their shows and stuff...but if Drive Thru signs 4 bands at once...a lot of people would just say "hey, theyre changing a lot" and not even bother listening to the new bands.

Then again, maybe they wont. I guess we'll just have to find out. I fucking love Socratic, and Jenoah sound good, so maybe everything will work out for them.

Oh yeah, www.forgetyesterday.com. Get your band signed somewhere.

madison is not on DTR sub label. the only reason they weren't signed to DTR when HIPV signed was because they weren't able to tour, because believe it or not, they had school. this is coming from the horses mouth, and whether or not that doesn't hold true, i was still told this by one of the members in madison. DTR has also signed jenoah.

I listened to both Adelphi and Socratic and they sound good, but these have got to be the stupidest signings ever. The bands have talent, sure, but they bring absolutely nothing new to the table, especially being on DTR. This label is getting stale, and they need to sign something different. They have more than enough pop punk bands, just about enough emo/fake screamo bands. They need another band like the Rx Bandits or Something corporate. Drive Thru can pick bands with catchy songs- but are they capable of picking bands with originality? These bands might be great on labels that need a pop punk band or two todiversify their roster. But when 80% of DTR is pop punk, these signings just don't make sense to me.

if you're going to jock nj this much, at least sign bands with an original sound and some talent, like houston calls, paulson, or finding westerly. high school bands like socratic aren't "the next thing," just a passing fad that isn't even that well received in nj. last i heard, socratic couldn't even fill a vfw in nj.

socratic draws well in certain areas of NJ. not particularly northern, and never as near as HIPV and madison. but then again, madison doesn't draw well in particular areas, either. hipv always draws well.

first of all for everyone trying to say that socratic sounds like every other band on drive thru records, you are all wrong. I will admit that their old stuff sounds like a perfect copy of all the other drive thru bands but their new stuff is going to shock all of you. It isnot like the other drive thru bands and it is not like the stuff that is out there right now. You people might be asking how i know this i am friends with the guys in the band so i have been told that the new stuff is different. For the person who said that they are just "another high school band" that is complete bullshit considering they are out of high school and they have much more talent than another high school band. This was a real good signing for drive thru records and everyone should go check out www.socraticmusic.com and also check out www.nomilkrecords.com. No Milk has a lot of good bands on the label. Drive Thru is a good label, Socratic is a great band.

Maybe Drive Thru is signing all of the same kind of stuff, but they're doing what brings them money. I think that all of us would probably do that too. They know what sells right now, because most of the bands on DTR right now are 'what's in' at the moment. They make money off of these bands, and money is what drives people these days.

Great point, what I was trying to say all along. And I also read your Linkin Park post, an excellent statement, and very true. I think I did say I respected them for what they did, I'm not sure, I don't remember. But I just can't tolerate their style of music, and you were right again, that DOESN'T make them any less original. But when original I was speaking in the "mainstream" sense. To me, once music gets to that point, most people aren't looking any deeper, they see Linkin Park and don't know who any other bands are, and I can't take that shit. When I think of mainstream I think of crappy MTV which exploits talent and annoying radio stations, that shit just pisses me off.

Well, the only way Transcending would be affiliated with Drive Thru is um.. Garret is VP and um.. Garret also plays in Senses Fail. So I don't think them ever asking for help from Drive Thru ever happend, because um, Garret is from Senses Fail, who um.. is signed to Drive Thru.. oh yeah..Dave Miller, he is um..also VP I believe of Transcending. So, I don't think he asked for the help, because there is no way he would be turned down. Plus Transcending is a huge aussie label, I don't think they need THAT much help getting started. But if you don't believe me on the Garret and Dave thing (Since everyone seems to think up the most outrageous rumors, some of this crap is tabloidish) check the webpage www.transendingusa.com
