why would you be hated on? travis is one of the best drummers in the world. anything he plays on has some crazy intricacies that (if you play drums) youll appreciate the complexity of it.

his beats with +44 are pretty good too

and the guy from motion city soundtrack is a really good drummer too

some people find it necessary to hate on blink-182
same thing with sum 41 when Stevo 32 is a pretty big beast

I'm guessing you don't like jazz, so maybe

Mastodon - Leviathan (maybe blood mountain, but mainly levi.)
Mars Volta - Bedlam in Goliath (I love this band, and though this is probably my least favorite album of theirs, the drumming shines. Pridgen is amazing.)
Protest the Hero - Kezia (maybe fortress too. But I prefer Kezia)
Between the Buried and Me - Colors (or alaska or Silent Circus. Really depends on what genre you are looking for.)

I don't hate blink 182 by any stretch of the imagination, but really? You choose them as a great band when it comes to drumming? Didn't Travis only use the snare on one of their albums even?

Well, when it comes to jazz drummers, listen to Tony Allen, Buddy Rich, and Max Roach. However, overall jazz wise, listen to Coltrane, Mingus and Davis.

Meshuggah for some crazy tech metal (his feet are amazing)
Incubus for solid, interesting rock drumming
Lamb of God and Yellowcard also.
And ignoring System of a Down, Deftones, or Korn would just be wrong.

Pearl Jam - VS
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew, Kind Of Blue
Box Car Racer - Box Car Racer
Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute
Dave Matthews Band - anything recorded live, but I recommend The Central Park Concert
Burning For Buddy - (it's a 2 vol. compilation where some of the greatest drummers in the world play Buddy Rich's songs. Neil Peart, Omar Hakim, Dave Weckl, etc)
The Reign Of Kindo - self titled EP
The Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist (not my favorite SP record, but Chamberlin kills on this one)
The Mars Volta - Anything, but especially The Bedlam In Goliath

My favorite jazz drummer of all time is joe morello, so if you want to hear good jazz drumming, go pick up Time Out. It's an essential album to own if you like jazz.

I'm just listening to Days Away for the first time right now and the drumming sounds class. So much about them reminds me of Circa Survive, except for most of the guitars.

?uestlove is definitely one of my favorite drummers. Check his stuff out with The Roots. Rising Down, their latest album has some great beats on it, but some of the older stuff is good too.

Pitchfork brought that up in their review too, it's an interesting concept. Care to explain it further?

I can't say I've ever heard an album in which the drummer seems to direct the music as much as with Boxer. Drums are often drowned out or seemingly unimportant to the tracks but not in this case. He builds songs up, ushers them out, gives them life. It would not be the same album without it.

Pitchfork’s staff are “not music fans” but instead, a “bunch of website geeks.”

Anything with Matt Cameron would be extremely good... extremely fucking good, especially his work on Binaural and Riot Act.
