Favorite baseball player vs. Favorite baseball team?

If it came down to it... like say in an extremely important game(playoffs, word series, etc..)... Would you root for your favorite player if he was playing your favorite team?

I'm going to see Griffey Junior for the first time this week against the Phillies. There isn't a player I loved more growing up than him.


I love the Phillies but I really wouldn't mind if he went 5 for 5 with 5 home runs against them. Anyone else ever come across the situation? How would you feel about it?

Griffey Jr is also my favorite player but I always have to root for my team in front of junior. Lets just say i'd love to see Junior go 5 for 5 with 5 homeruns but we still win the game.

I tend to cheer for the players I like regardless if they're playing my team. Fuck even at high school, I'll root for good players on other teams (like Mark Trumbo, Freddie Freeman, and Aaron Hicks)

The team always comes before the player. I'll always love Sammy, all drama aside, but I only loved him in the first place because he was on my team.

I hope he goes for 5 for 5 with 5 home runs against other teams. Against us, I hope he goes 0 for 5 with a Golden Sombrero. I do hope he hits his 600th on Thursday though.

Always favorite team. Ive never came up in this scenerio with baseball but with hockey in 2002, the Wings played my favorite player at the time, Ron Francis, in the Stanley Cup finals and yeah, the thought never crossed my mind of cheering for the Hurricanes.

When it comes to baseball its clearly my favourite team to win, I dont have a ton of favourite players who are non Jays. Hockey is a different story, since I hate every player on my favourite team (and Im not exaggerating) I always pull for the player.
