View Full Version : Driving Without a License...

I was driving (i don't have a license and im underage) and im usually a good driver thats why i drive and no 1 in my family would know i took the car. Today though i was merging into a different street and i hit a car. He stopped and i just sped up doing around 60 mph just to get away on a 40 mile street. I didn't see him follow me so when i stopped he came out if his car to talk to me. We sorted things out since it wasn't a major damage and he said he wouldn't call the cops. I don't know if he will stay true to his word. He also said it would cost a lot of money. I was wondering how much money does it take to get a paint job/scratch repair (i saw the damage and it was a scratch/paint removal) and if he called the cops (he has my cars license plate) what would be the penalty for driving without a license? Any way to get out of this?

The penalty is anal.

But really though, you probably won't be allowed to get your license until you're older.

Depending on the state.

• License suspended at least one year
2nd offense

• $ 200 to $ 600 fine
• License suspended at least two years

Forgetting your license is one thing, but forgetting it when you aren't old enough to have one... well, that's a whole other story.

sheesh i didn't get my license until i was almost 18.

to be honest, i kinda hope you get a small penalty so you dont get your license right away and practice more....it annoys me that you were driving in the first place. However, I dont know how much the guy can do. By not calling the cops he can make claims that you did more damage on his car then you trully did, and make you pay for it without you even noticing. You got yourself in a really shitty situation. good luck.

1. quit driving without a license.
2. seriously, whatever he asks, make sure that you accommodate it. be firm if he tries to really screw you, but besides that most people don't want the cops called in any situation. also, don't let him know you're under age if you already haven't. he'll screw you even worse if he knows.

good luck man, stay off the streets for a while.

That's karma for you.
I hate when kids drive without a license, or drive out of the restrictions of their license. My friend had her Junior's license, which in NY (basically) means you're allowed to drive alone to and from work/home, school/home, and not with passengers under the age of 21 (outside of family). Well my friend discarded those laws, and crashed her BMW on school hours, ehich she also wasn't supposed to do because she's not a Senior and therefore cannot leave campus.
What put the cherry on top was that she crashed it on a Tuesday, and the Saturday before it happened, we were all talking about accidents, and driving in general.

Why rush driving? I wish I didn't have my license because then I wouldn't have to drive so much when I'm with friends.

wow .. you mean the 'lessons' are just the one time test in a car with the person?

here it works like this

1. take a written test at 18 (18 is the legal age to obtain a license)
2. obtain a permit for a year i think and with that permit you're able to drive only inside the training centre with a instructor
3. you go tru a 32 stage driving lesson where they divide it into different categories
4. once you pass that, like in the states, we drive in a car with a traffic police beside you holding a board with your points
5. on average, people here usually pass within a year

wow .. you mean the 'lessons' are just the one time test in a car with the person?

here it works like this

1. take a written test at 18 (18 is the legal age to obtain a license)
2. obtain a permit for a year i think and with that permit you're able to drive only inside the training centre with a instructor
3. you go tru a 32 stage driving lesson where they divide it into different categories

Holy wow, that's SO much stuff! I'd die.

Well, yes. It's your parents responsibility to teach you to drive. The drivers license center people are only in a car with you once for like ten minutes!

oh my .... and the test would be like the instructor telling you where to go and then that's it? they judge you only by that?

Yep! They have you drive around a course, parallel park, down some roads, use all your turn signals/lights/wipers.
It's sooo easy to drive here.
It seems like a ton of work and not worth it there.

Do you guys sign up for the army there? Or do you get drafted into it, even if you don't want to? That's terrible if so.

That is ridiculously expensive just for learning to drive.

unfortunately, all male who reach 18 are required to serve national service .. no control over it .. the goverment sees that human resources is my country's 'strong point' and sees the need to equip us males against worst case scenarios ..

yeah .. but there's benefits from it no doubt .. it used to be 2.5 years but it's just been reduced to 2 years .. you'll have to postpone studying further just to serve the 2 years .. the maximum you can obtain before goin in is a diploma and after that, you'll have to serve before continuing your studies ..

totally .. and what's worst is that for 2 years, the starting allowance is only around 250 USD and increase slightly base on your rank as you progress in the army (if there's any progression that is) ..

Well, I'd tell you no, but I'd be lying. It's a really long story that once again, stars my cousins.

I'd actually like to hear that story too Kim.. I've never gotten that one? And which cousins? Please don't tell me it was like Zach or something... :-p
