I recently realized how shitty of a friend I've been to a lot of my friends, some that I considered myself extremely close to. I'm pretty much resolved on letting them know that I've realize I've wronged them and that I'm going to give them the time I should have been giving them instead of wasting it with someone who doesn't care about me half as much as she says she does. Anyone have any similar feelings, like that they've lost friends for stupid reasons and big mistakes?

If only more people would come to the realization you have.

That happened to me in high school, and during it one of my best friends (who I had been really shitty to) moved away. Sucks to realize it after the fact; at least you still have the chance to spend time with them.

I lost one of my best friends for reasons extending beyond my ex. We had a huge falling out over the way he was treating his girlfriend at the time (who is one of my absolute best and closest friends) and we didn't really speak at all for the last 3-4 years. However, throughout this I did notice him trying to get me to hang out and whatnot, but I wasn't having it because of the usual reasons. So this past Monday I saw him for the first time in 4 years and we have a lot of catching up to do. We're both really different people than we used to be, but I think we still share everything we had in common before.

Indeed wise Hamlet. How's old Rosencrantz and Guildenstern? Feeling rotten I presume? (oh I make myself chuckle)
Friends are worthless almost as often as people you date are, so its really kind of a tossup.

I've lost a couple because of stupid reasons. But you always meet someone new...

i just realized that people i have been friends with for a long time are selfish assholes and treat me like shit. I'm now learning to break away from these people and find friends who i deserve

I only consider about three-four people to actually be "friends" and we've all had our time of treating each other like shit. I think we're good now though.

I had that some prob with friends who were selfish assholes and treated me as if i was beneath them. Dropped em like a bad habit and made better friends.

the girl that i considered my best friend all through childhood stopped talking to me last year because i got drunk and told some people she cheated on her boyfriend. which was 100% true and she didn't want to cover up all the lies she made to her boyfriend. she threatened me via text messages and i then realized we were never really friends. sometimes you burn bridges for a reason even if you don't understand why right at that moment.
sometimes you lose friends by not doing anything at all. those are the worst kinds of losses imo.

oo thats the first time I've heard someone from Jersey say they want out. Usually anyone I talk to loves Jersey.
Yes. Not my fault. Long story. Not my fault, but the answer's yes.

Junior year of high school I pretty much broke up with one of my best friends over a boy. Stupidest fucking decision of my life and now I kind of wish we were still friends  Life goes on though

it always seems that when people get into a relationship, they forget about their friends. the thing you need to remember is that friends will always be there for you and significant others probably won't... so if you ditch your friends and then get ditched by your girl, you're left alone! it's totally lame, but just about everyone has to learn that the hard way.
additional word of advice: stay away from dating girls who don't like your friends; chances are, they will try to get you to stop hanging out. DUMB.
