by 90's bands, I don't mean bands that were active exclusively in the 90's, but (mostly) bands who were active primarily in the 90's.
Poll coming? if not, weezer/smashing pumpkins

obviously, I couldn't put every 90's band on there, so don't be offended if I neglected your favorite. that's what "other" is for.

Weezer most definatly, my gateway band, I was 11 when blue came out, I wore that cassette out, I would also say that Faith No More should have been listed, another great versitle band from the 90's, Angel Dust was an album about 8 years ahead of its time, tho I'll be the first to admit I didnt actually hear that album until recent years. Tho I do remember FNM as a little kid with Epic and all, But Weezer takes the cake, the Pumpkins were great, even tho Corgan's gotta crappy voice and a little pretentious, they still pull off great music. Sunny Day Real Estate is another good mention, I remember the first song I heard from them being on the Batman Forever soundtrack, odd huh? lol
I love finding those bands from the 90's who went under the radar like Skeleton Key(who was getting treated like crap from Capitol at the same time as JEW(still my fav band) when they did Static) but that album they did on Capitol, Fantastic Spikes Through Balloon is probably one of the most underrated albums of the 90's, and they got a Grammy nom, but only for the albums artwork, sad cause that is one of the most interesting albums, its like crazy funky rock, with junk percussion incorporated, as well as some hardcore and punk thrown in, but most of all the songs are all extremely well crafted and catchy, its a great driving album, its a shame it never got bigger than it did. they're still around, and have done some stuff since, but that album was a 90's hidden gem for sure, check it out, Skeleton Key: Fantastic Spikes Through Balloon (http://www.amazon.com/Fantastic-Spikes-Through-Balloon-Skeleton/dp/B000002U31/ref=pd_bbs_6?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1212754056&sr=8-6)
No Radiohead?
I went with Nirvana.
Went with t3h Weez. I agree that Third Eye Blind should be on the list, and where are the Stone Temple Pilots? I'm not really a fan, but Pearl Jam should probably also be on the list.

U2 was primarily active in the 90s?
I went Nine Inch Nails. Fugazi is close behind. If In Flames count, then I'd vote them.

so U2 doesn't really belong in this poll. I was dizzy on too much cold medication when I came up with the choices, okay?

All things considered, a rather reasonable excuse.

Where's korn or Alice in Chains...Korn has stood the test of time and Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell are the best lead/melody duo around..Having them two sing together on albums and songs were amazing

oh yeah over 30 million albums sold and they sparked a new movement in music, tehy must bbe terrible. alot of artist today would've never picked up a guitar if not for them. I might be exaggerating but saying their music in terrible is absolutely ridiculous

Agreed, they were obviously a very influential band at that time, and anyone who thinks differently are kidding themselves.

I'd go with Fugazi from that list but some honourable mentions for some of those you forgot. Helmet, Kyuss, Quicksand, Downset, CIV, Handsome and the makers of just about my favourite '90s album Faith No More.
