You can't go wrong with either, but you really should check out both. In my opinion, my favorite bands best work.

I like both of them but Std's "Stay what you are" is way better. Saves the day can do no wrong in my opinion though...so it isn't that close.

I've been meaning to check out Stay What You Are for a while actually. I've heard a few songs from Sound The Alarm, and I liked what I heard, and everyone says that SWYA is their best, so I figured I should get it.

The only thing is, the two albums have a totally different sound from one another. I believe you'll enjoy it, a lot.

2 fantastic albums. tough choice, NFG s/t was by far their best release, and they havent come close since - in my opinion, through being cool was STD's best, with stay what you are a VERY close 2nd. id have to go with NFG in this one, but its almost too close to call.

Saves The Day!! I'm so surprised that they are winning, but of course they should be.

I'm not overly surprised because i feel that most people believe that NFG's best work isn't there self titled. Plus, Stay What You Are is beloved on this site (i believe it was around #23 on the music fourms favorite 40 album list).

every one of STD's albums has its own sound...thats kindda the reason they are so timeless...when you have a band that tweaks their sound a little bit everyone bitches 'its not like the original' but when they stay exactly the same its boring to buy the same album again. STD's releases each album with their own unique sound and feel to it, so each on is refreshing in their own way. i think SWYA is the best one, but in reverie has an even nicer sound at some times. their even earlier stuff i never got into cause it was poorly recorded really fast pop punk, but the b-sides cd is fantastic, and anything they play acoustic is near perfection.

The person who said they haven't heard SWYA makes me feel really old. hahaha.

Anyway, SWYA>NFG s/t by a mile, especially since I got to see Saves the Day play the whole thing in order recently. AMAZING. Such a great live band.

But so is NFG. I'd go with Sticks and Stones as their best.

if this was betweeen NFG-s/t and "through being cool", I woudl have voted for 'through being cool", however, NFG's S/t is the more classic in my opinion when compared to SWYA

Ah, to be 20 again and see NFG/Alk3/STD on the same bill for $10...one can dream

nothing gold can stay vs. stay what you are might be a different story, but in this case, swya def takes it

Goddamn this is a good poll. Really hard choice, but I picked Stay
What You Are, because that's probably my favorite album of all time. And while I do think self titled is NFG's best album, and I still listen to it all of the time, it doesn't get to me the way that Stay What You Are always does.

Stay What You Are is just a more timeless album. It's more original as well. When people look back on the genre, NFG's s/t will blend in much more with their contemporaries than Stay What You Are will.

NFG self titled initially got me really into the type of music I listen to today, but as far as timeless goes I'd have to say Stay What You Are destroys it. I think Sticks and Stones is the most timeless NFG album for me, I will be listening to that every summer non-stop for a long time I'm sure.
