It's been a while since I've had the time to sit down and compile a list of recommendations for you folks. Sorry about my absence on the matter, but I have been pretty busy lately. Anyway, here is what I've been primarily listening to since the holidays.

Head Automatica (http://www.headautomatica.com) - Glassjaw's front man Daryl Palumbo is incredible, so naturally anything he touches is gold. The HA record will easily, undoubtedly be absolutely stunning and I think will be one of the best records released this year.

Pale New Dawn (http://www.palenewdawn.com) - To be honest, I totally forget how I came across this band. Someone told me to check them out at some point before the New Year, I know that much. But geez, this band is incredible. I'd keep my eyes on these fellows cause hot damn, do they ever have potential.

Anberlin (http://www.anberlin.com) - I knew about this band for a while now, but only recently did I really get into their debut full length, Blueprints For The Black Market. If you haven't checked these guys out yet, gosh, get with it kid.

Lance's Hero (http://www.lanceshero.com) - This band deserves all of the recognition that we have been giving them. I really am anxious to see where this band is going, cause it is somewhere big.

The Junior Varsity (http://www.thejuniorvarsity.com) - I'm working on a review of their new album, The Great Compromise, and I should have that posted later tonight, so keep your eyes on the site for a full break down of this great debut record. But until then, check them out if you haven't. They are a great synth rock band, that I'm gonna say is slightly in the vein of Armor For Sleep.

I can't believe The Junior Varsity is getting so much press. I can't believe that VIctory Records signed them. This band is not very special. Over half of their songs use the 1,2,3,5 progression that is becoming oh so popular in emo songs today, and the singing could use some work. What y'all ought to be waiting for is the brand new Fire Under Collision demo in progress, let's just say progressive and rocking.

How can you possibly recommend the Head Automatica record when you havn't even heard it? That doesn't make sense to me. Just because Daryl is doing it, and there's ONE song on the website doesn't mean it's going to be good.

No kidding, dude. As soon as I saw the "I can't believe Victory signed them", I was like "what the fuck... no...", and just figured this person was misinformed or something, but then they go on to trash them... that's just not cool. They're obviously doing something right if they caught Victory's interest.

And Zach, its not that you said they sucked that upset me, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that you said they sucked and then told me to check out your band, WHICH REALLY SUCKS!!!

oops, one other thing i forgot. Maybe your band blows, because the progression isnt 1235, its 4561 douche bag! So that really does prove you know NOTHING.

dude I will not argue that the music on our site sucks. But those were recorded in august 2 weeks after we had formed the full band. Here we are in January, 5 months later, we are 98% done recording our demo, only which one of the songs are on from those mp3s. We have 7 shows in the next month. The demo won't suck. Those songs on the website suck. Even if the songs are 4, 5, 6, 1. THEY DON'T HAVE ANY CHORD ORIGINALITY!! JESUS PEOPLE GO LISTEN TO GATSBY!!! I like the guitar work, I just hate the progressions of the JV. And people are just to afraid to say what they feel! It's all cushioned Bullshit. At least you're not cushioning it. So I can respect that and you.

Maybe it came out all wrong. This wasn't supposed to be a post dissing the JV. It's just that we all the scene is static. I'm seeing terrible bands getting signed by labels, because everyone is looking for a new sound. Fuck that! There are so many good bands that do not have homes. There are so many good bands that are not being reccomended by Ap.net! It's bullshit! Then they post about rap or other genres of music? Yeah that is helping the scene. And by the way, no rock star dreams for me. I'm studying Pre-veterinary medicine.

the jv consists, of nick, tony, asa, sergio, and andy, and so for those with half a brain, common sense would tell you there are no chuks in that band.
