So there's going to be a total of five shreks, six terminators, endless superhero franchises and so on. Don't you think they're kind of killing certain things?

I was just thinking about how ridiculous it is that are we there yet had a sequel

I was reading an article the other day that listed known sequels that were to be made by 2010. It was a ridiculous amount.

Well most studios really could careless if they make "great" movies. They're more worried about making money off of movies. So if a pile of crap sells then they're going to push it, and people are so desperate to revive storylines and characters that they flock to sequels.
Its sad that Paramount is cutting down its Arthouse division, which produced "There Will be Blood" "Into the Wild" and "No Country for Old Men"

Wait, so the division makes Academy Award winning movies and they cut it down?

Me neither but it's great for the kids. It makes them shutup whilst babysitting, so I can't complain too much.

best sequals ever
Terminator 2
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
Back To The Future (really well because how well it intertwined with the first considering they didnt know they were going to make a sequal)
Rush HOur 2

I dont mind sequels if the movie is setup to be a trilogy and so on.

I heard there was going to be 7 total Shreks, but I could be wrong. The third one was horrible.
I think if a movie makes a millions at the box office, it's guaranteed a sequel. Most of them don't need one (i.e. Transformers although it could be good, Alvin and the Chipmunks)

No more Shrek movies. The last one was just recycled jokes from the second one.

Yes, but also you like to please you're loyal "movie fans" and if you're making the movie for them then they are going to see it, so they are a fan of you're movies.
