This is my first batch of recommendations...I was going to recommend some stuff last week, but I ended up going to LA before I remembered to do it, so it didn't get done...but here are my picks for the week.

Desa (http://www.desadesadesa.com) - This band is one of my favorites. They're from the Bay Area (where I'm from), and it's basically 4 of 5 members of my favorite band of all time (Link Eighty). But this isn't ska/punk or whatever you wanna call Link Eighty. There's no horns, this is crazy, interesting, intense ROCK. Check it out.

Dosh (http://www.anticon.com) - The new record out on Anticon records is spectacular. Awesome instrumentals. Check it out.

The A.K.A.'s (http://www.theakas.com) - I just picked up this CD down in Hollywood, and I haven't listened to it much, but from what I've heard it's pretty rockin. It's got elements of lots of different styles, it's definitely pretty interesting, check it.

Gruvis Malt (http://www.gruvismalt.com) - This is the best band in the world. The most amazing musicians in one band. While you & I were outside playing kickball as a kid, they were inside practicing their instruments. Seriously, this isn't some BS "best band ever", this is my honest, legit opinion. They're not my favorite band, but I've come to the conclusion that they are indeed the best.

Hymie's Basement (http://www.hymiesbasement.com) - This is a side project from Why? of Anticon and Andrew Broder of Fog. It was recorded over a two week visit of Why's to Minneapolis in the basement of Hymie's, a record store. This is some really great stuff, it's hard to even really describe it. If you're into acoustic indie rock, a light amount of indie hop and some amazing melodies, then check this stuff out.

That's all of them for today...later.

now now, we all know that led zeppelin is the best band ever. I would also accept coheed and cambria (who is the zeppelin of our time.)

you are retarded. no whiney emo band will ever be the "zeppelin of our time" no matter how poetic or mysterious they make themselves out to be.

To answer the questions ... yes, Gruvis has done shows with Incubus...not a whole tour though. They've opened a few.

And as for those artists mentioned, I'm not so big on the defjux guys, but elp and cannibal ox are pretty cool, and I love Buck65.

yep. talk about overrated. Buddyhead described them best:

"Mixing emo with prog-metal leads to the sort of things that would happen if you bred a short bus riding, drooling, soft-serve retard midget girl with one of those 4 dudes in every high school who wear all over print t-shirts with unicorns, dragons, and rainbows on them, and sit in the back of the lunch room playing dungeons and dragons. What a total fucking mess."

I checked it out, I'm down with this, it's pretty good. If I had the cd, I'd probably listen to it a bit.

Anyone else, feel free to send me recommendations or whatever, cuz I'll listen, I am always down to check out new music.

I'd honestly prefer that we don't compare anyone to Zepp. Same goes for the Beatles. Music is so different now that I honestly don't think there will ever be anything as big or legendary as either of them. Sure we (you) can LOVE Coheed as much as you want, but trying to compare any modern music with what Zepp and the Beatles were doing is just not possible.

Anyone with an opinion starting with "Buddyhead described them best.." should just have their opinion totally disregarded. haha just kidding,Buddyhead is the dumbest thing I've probably ever seen though.

As for CO&CA being the next Zeppelin,Although Coheed and Cambria are amazing they cant be a Beatle or anything of the sort. The music scene is just too different from what it was then, music itself is just too different period. They were before internet and everything. And while we're at it,dont take it so damn literal,he was just stating that Coheed are a great great band.

I don't generally take buddyhead seriously, but they hit that one on the head. And Coheed is in no way shape or form the zeppelin of our generation. that's a rediculous statement to make.
