Did anyone catch them with RX Bandits? They were great.

They opened their set with three new songs, which I thought was weird, but they were all great. One of them had a dark, Murder By Death-ish feel to it. It was great. And they played Chicago!

1-You NEED to get their first CD. It's way different than their newer stuff, but it's just as amazing.

2-Nic Newsham is in a band called Keith Ledger (http://www.absolutepunk.net/www.myspace.com/keithledgerband). They're alright. Not as good as GAD.

I don't think it will, every album so far has been so diverse from one another. These guys are so freakin talented, they are definatly capable of doing it. As opposed to a band like Alkaline trio who also does this, they have more of a one demensional sound and cant pull it off so instead you get a bunch of mediocre albums

They're hyped in AP (magazine and .net) like crazy and I've found that they're occasionally enjoyable at best. Merely my opinion.

Brand New obtained that status though through their first two albums as a gateway to the new album. I don't believe they'd have that status if their first album was their last one.

I think you're right. Their first album was 2001, right? That Pop Punk with the twinge of Post-Hardcore was the subgenre/sound this site was built on. Then the kids started to grow up a little and if you had a beard and whispered before you screamed, they felt like it was this maturation process and signs of progression, hence why they loved works like The Devil and God so much. However, Brand New wasn't that band until the second album, which started to ape The Smiths and Pixies, which is when the kids started to laud them over all the other scene bands as "mature music," which is also one of the reasons I've found that Portugal is so beloved (not implying that's why you dig them).

I love this band but I'm not believing this album to be in the vein of Waiter. They dont seem like a band to regress to something they have already done. Sure, there might some electronic flourishes compared the last album that was more of a 60's/70's psychedelic vibe but not enough to warrant a Waiters v.2 comparison. I guess we'll see when it comes out. Much excited though.
