The website, is well, it's better than it was the last 3 days right? When my breathing returns to normal I will get back to working non-stop to get everything back into the swing of things. Basically, we got fucked over by our host/server and have been moving, playing catch up, and I have become addicted to energy drinks for 72 hours straight - I haven't slept, and I am in a very horrible mood. Then I find out that some asshole decided to steal the Rookie Year and The Spill Canvas' van, and to top it off my girlfriend's ex-boyfriend is hanging out in Spain with her for the next 2 days. Awesome right?

And while we are at it: Fuck CBS. They censor the "Bush in 30 Seconds" ad, but allow that half-time show? Are you kidding me? Don't even try and tell me they didn't know what was going on - there is no such thing as live TV.

that sucks about your girl man. and i totally agree about CBS, i was so pissed when they didnt allow the bush in 30 seconds ad, especially since they got the ad with the nationwide contest. apprently CBS has a problem with ads that speak the truth.

Actually, CBS just has a policy not to allow paid political endorsements during the Super Bowl. Nothing has changed over the past 40 years, they never have, never will.

They also rejected an ad for some animal rights group.

It's nothing pro-Bush, it's just a policy. And you should respect that. And I do believe those at CBS didn't mean for the whole halftime show to go exactly as it did. Some censor wasn't fast enough on the trigger though.

CBS blew it -- pure and simple. That was an easy call and an easy censor. How many people do you think they had watching that game from the station? 100 million viewiers - they need to do a better job. As Jason said, there is no live TV. Unfortunately nothing will happen though because any fine the FCC levies will be a drop in the bucket for CBS and/or Viacom.

(And if CBS has policy of not running political ads, then what the hell were the paid endorsements from the White House doing on the station? Amendment one means free speech not forming your own agenda and censoring because you don't like the message being conveyed. CBS blew that as well.)

It questioned the $1.4 trillion tax cut -- hardly bashing him. And a lot of families gather together to watch the Super Bowl -- the fact that Janet and Justin went behind the backs of everyone putting on the show to pull that stunt (it was admitted by Janet yesterday) was despicable.

sersiously. who gives a shit. it happened. it is OVER. and to fowruok on his comment about freedom of speech...your a moron. "Amendment one means free speech"...no shit on that one. except for one thing...this wasnt free speech. try a 2 million dollar one. the network has a right to refuse any commercial. if your just pissed that it wasnt aired...thats understandable, but to say that its unconstitutional is ignorant.

it IS b.s. and we DO have a right to be pissed... everyone should be.
From Bushout.tv:
"Meanwhile, liberal think tank the Center for American Progress has a Reality Check [http://www.americanprogress.org/site/pp.asp?c=biJRJ8OVF&b=24912] for CBS's assertion that they don't air "controversial" ads: "CBS claims they won't run an ad by MoveOn.org because they have a policy against running ads on controversial public policy issues. But this is simply not true. Time and again CBS has allowed corporation[s] to whitewash their record on extremely controversial policy issues. The facts reveal that the decision to reject the MoveOn.org advertisement was based on politics, not on principle."

Update: Newsweek reports that, according to MoveOn, CBS was initially receptive to airing "Child's Play". What could've changed their mind? I doubt it could have anything to do with political pressure from the administration that regulates (or de-regulates, as the case may be) CBS (via CounterSpin).

haven't you guys figured this out? all stations seem to be biased on way or the other. it's obvious whating CBS' coverage of the elections each yeah they that are biased towards republicans, whereas CNN tends to be towards the democrats. the rest of the stations fall into one category for the most part as well. the only truly unbiased election coverage comes from comedy central's The Daily Show: they bash both sides equally.

No -- this is free speech. The right to air a commerical is the right to free speech. It doesn't matter that each 30 second spot was $2.3 million. The reason CBS rejected this was purely political. You should be just as pissed as I am that CBS and their bullshit allegiance with the White House prevents the television audience from seeing what they should. Oh -- but wait -- the government has controlled the media since the beginning of time. (Don't even get me started on coverage of Iraq.) That won't change unless more people like Jason Tate post articles and get the word out. By the way -- you can go here -- http://www.moveon.org/cbs/ad/ to sign a petition against CBS though it's too late to have an effect now. Sorry about all the preaching -- my journalism classes are getting me worked up lol.

First of all, i'm glad the site is back up. Second of all, I dont see why everyone is makin such a big deal about the boob. It was a very brief shot and as much as I hate JT, I think that was the best part of the whole halftime show, next to kid rock of course.

The right to air a commerical is the right to free speech.

No, it's not. CBS can choose what commercials it wants to put on its programming. The right to air the commercial belongs to CBS, the right to make the commercial belongs to anyone.

For example, if Avril Lavigne's record label paid $1 million for a banner ad, that said "Avril Lavigne is the greatest", and wanted to place it on AbsolutePunk.net, do you think that would happen?? I don't think Jason Tate would allow that to happen. Is the record label's right to free speech being violated?? No, the label just has to find another place to put their banner ad. Just like, you can burn the flag and it's free speech, but just because you'll pay someone $2.4 million to put the burning flag on tv, doesn't mean they have to.

Wait a second... isn't burning the flag a crime here in the US?

And I am now relieved - AP.net is my main motivation for getting online.

CBS is playing politics over the right that we have to free speech. CBS owns publicly controlled airwaves. It is unconstitutional to accept ads for the White House to run their advocacy campaign and shut out all others who disagree. It's the same reason why David Letterman cannot have Howard Dean on his show without also extending invitations to John Kerry and John Edwards. Avril Lavigne is not covered under this "equal-time" provision. Therefore, Jason can do whatever the hell he wants on his website.

It's okay to disagree with me because I see where you're coming from. But also know that you are disagreeing with 340,000 Americans who were outraged enough to send emails to CBS, including FCC commissioner Michael Copps.

It really does make a persuasive argument.
