Searched and couldnt find anything on this, they posted the trailer today. http://movies.ign.com/dor/objects/382367/punisher-war-zone/videos/punisher2_trailer_061008.html

Thanks for the link, it does seem pretty gritty. Was hoping I'd get to see Dominic West as Jigsaw (just watched the first season of The Wire and loved it), but I guess I got to wait.

Jane might have been right to back out, it seems like they just wanted to make this movie about killing criminals with little to no plot involved
That get up he is wearing is horrid too.
Agreed, to much Flack-jacket and not enough Skull

Just FYI everyone! The 2004 one with John Travolta was NOT the original Punisher movie. The original one came out in 1989, starred Dolph Lundgren, and was awesome: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098141/

I'm gonna say that movie doesn't count, its not the original Thomas Jane's version is the original
War Journal is the Sequel to Thomas Janes, so when people say original they would be referring to that regardless if they had prior knowledge of the film you speak of, just FYI
I will not support this. I was a big fan of Thomas Jane and thought he did a great Punisher, with a shitty weak cast of Travolta's terrible bad guy acting, and Stamos playing a horrid Joan, the movie was still okay.
I have no care to see this one.

The trailer does look pretty corny, and I hold The Punisher close to my heart, but just because it's The Punisher, I am going the first day with my Punisher shirt and slicking my hair back like Ray Stevenson in this.

well, its only the first preview for it, usually not a lot of the plot is shown in the initial trailers. At this it looks kinda pointless, but i'm hoping they'll show more when they close in on the release date. I want to like this so badly, i loved the first one.
When i first saw the trailer for The Incredible Hulk i thought the same thing too though and i loved the hulk

This looks fucking horrible, they should have kept Thomas Jane or not made this. I'm not sure of the circumstance of why T.J. is not in the movie but they are going to ruin franchises if they keep changing characters i.e. Hulk, Punisher and possibly Spider man. Whats next Peter Gallagher as Iron Man?

"Would you believe so bad that the director may have been fired over it?
When Lexi Alexander didn’t show up for her own panel at Comic-Con last weekend, the whispers started. And a not-so-cryptic post on the director’s official site, saying among other things, “Now for me it’s time to move on and look towards the future,” seems to confirm the rumors.
But if IESB’s sources are right, things are about to get even worse. One insider said Punisher: War Zone is so bad, “Dolph Lundgren’s 1989 Punisher is a masterpiece compared to [it].”
But here’s the worst part: “After a small screening of the film to studio execs, we were told it was un-releasable and by far one of the worst movies ever made. Apparently, the dialogue and action sequences were so bad that it was practically unwatchable.”

And Louis Gossett, Jr. taking on the Japanese mob.

Following up on an earlier article, one of my contacts deep within the bowels of Hollywood and close to the Punisher: War Zone project (source will not be named. Sorry!) told me today that the big fight over the Punisher project is Lionsgate wants a PG-13 cut to be released.
We already know that Lexi Alexander has allegedly been fired from the film. Her own website doesn't even mention anything about the Punisher movie anymore. You would think that even if she were a consultant on the project, she'd be mentioning this huge comic book movie coming out later this year, but that isn't the case.
Of course, Lionsgate can always say, "This was never intended to be PG-13. We always had an R rating in mind." but I trust Hollywood as far as I can throw it. I'm sure there's some Lionsgate exec thinking this film can do what The Dark Knight has done with a PG-13 rating.
And I'm betting it's the Dark Knight impact having something to do with this internal battle over the cut of the film. Dark Knight is PG-13 and made a ton of money. But this isn't Batman. This is The Punisher. The Punisher kills people. Violently. I don't want a PG-13 movie, and I especially don't want one after seeing the ultra violent red band trailer.
What do you guys think? Is Lionsgate going nuts over here? Who really wants a PG-13 Punisher movie? I'm pretty sure the actual fans of the comic book don't. Voice your opinion below or e-mail george@latinoreview.com and let Lionsgate know fans of the comic want to see The Punisher do some actual punishing!

yea, rotten tomatoes is at like 12% right now. but that's not surprising, most poeople that don't like comics don't like the comic movies. Lot of critics hated Jane's Punisher, but i loved it. I don't think this can touch it, but i think it may work in another way for the Punisher series.

I just watched it online and it was a letdown to say the least. The acting, dialouge and overall cheesiness ruined it for me. Both Jigsaw and Loony Bin Jim were laughably bad as well as the silly fucking plot. I prefer the Tom Jane over this. It did have some amazing gore and violence.
