Last night at the Brand New show in Toronto, Jesse covered Coldplay's "Yellow" at the end of "The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot." Instead of singing the final "Call me a safe bet, I'm betting I'm not..." line at the very end, he started singing, "Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do. Yeah, they were all yellow."

Anyway, I think the original point was missed. It was amusing that Jesse covered "Yellow" at the end of that song because when Deja Entendu was released, there were a lot of people saying that "The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot" was a ripoff of "Yellow."

I don't find this news odd at all considering that "the boy who.." is really justy a cover of "Yellow" all the time. The soungs sound EXACTLY alike.

And Coldplay and Brand New are both fucking amazing bands. I've seen the Coldplay dvd and it was outstanding, they are so good live. And it's really cool that Jesse actually covered the part of that song.

Wow, there are some angry people on this thread... Anyway, who cares? The Boy WHo Blocked His Own Shot and Yellow are the same song with different words anyway. Deja Entendu is more of a Bright Eyes/ Coldplay split cd than and actual Brand New album in my eyes. YFW was energetic and they could rock out live when they played it. Now the songs are like lullabies and there isn't much moving at all when they play them. Don't get me wrong, it's a good CD, but it definately sounds like a rip-off of Bright Eyes and Coldplay.
Now you can all bitch about me and how I have no taste in music and that I have to regard for true talent....

I was at the show and it was awesome Brand New are quite amazing live. They also played Jude Law And A Semester Abroad, and i thought they retired this song and didn't play it live anymore. Anyways it was great!!!!!!

I HEARD from my sister's boyfriends younger cousin's best friend's father who did time in vietnam's wife's step-son, that Jesse Lacey was at my local mall, In Urban Outfitters. Buying $120 Jeans. And he tried on a pair, but didnt like them! So, he said "these suck" and he left them in the dressing room! GUESS WHAT!! A friend of my uncles dog's groomer's best friends, wife's ex husband SAID they went into the dressing room RIGHT after him, and took the pants! GOD i'm so jealous!

All these bands keep on playing covers live and I can't find the mp3s for them anywhere. Do any of you have or know where I can find mp3s of Saves the Day and Pennywise covering "Hey Ya", or this short cover that Brand New played last night? I'd be much obliged to anyone who helped me out.
