Well, another week has rolled by. Not much has happened and nothing ordinary to talk about so I'll just get to it. Check my recommendations below and post what you all think of them as well as what you've been listening to or what you think we should be listening to. Also, peep out Brandon's (MaybeOneDay) recommendations under mine and see if you guys like anything he's been listening to. Enjoy!

As Patient Stars Align (http://www.purevolume.com/aspatientstarsalign) - Chris March put a little brief up about them earlier in the week so I decided to check them out and was quite impressed. This band has major potential and I think all of you will at least enjoy what they have up / done already.

Your Envious Demise (http://www.yourenviousdemise.com/) - Someone emailed me about this band earlier in the week and I checked them out. I was quite impressed with their sound. With a sound very similiar in my opinion to Taking Back Sunday meets My Chemical Romance I'm sure many of you will like it. They also have a nice little addition of guitar solos in their songs that makes their music stand out. But like the band above these guys have so much potential.

Small Towns Burn A Little Slower (http://www.purevolume.com/Smalltownsburnalittleslower) - I really don't know what to say about these guys, but good stuff. Listen to them bring the rock n' roll.

April Sixth (http://www.aprilsixth.net/) - Another band with loads of potential. I started really listening to them last week and they were even on my list of picks last week .. but I haven't stoped listening to them yet.

Sue Generis (http://www.suegeneris.com/) - I love this band. The lead singer's singing stands out, but not as much as his piano playing that fits perfectly with the rest of the band. That alone is what got me to keep listening to this band.

Well, I hope you guys at least like one of those bands. And like I said post your opinions as well as what you've been listening to. I'm always looking for new bands to check out so keep them coming. Also, I'm still listening to The Spill Canvas, The Jealous Sound, and the new Incubus record all the time so make sure you guys peep those as well. Now check out Brandon's (MaybeOneDay) picks below.

Hey everybody. Most of you are probably wondering who the hell I am, so let me explain. My names Brandon Allin, and i'm from Newcastle, Ontario, Canada. But the real question is, why am I doing reccomendations this week ? Well, i'm not from any famous band, or record label or anything, i'm just simply here to tell you what i've been spinning lately, and some awesome bands you should check out. Jared Kaufman, being the awesome guy he is, asked me if i'd like to do reccomendations along side him this week, as a sort of payback for being such a long-time fan of AbsolutePunk.net. Also, some of you may recognize me from the forums (my name is MaybeOneDay). Anyways, here's what i've been rocking to lately:

One Short (www.oneshort.com) - To me, this is the band that will "save" pop-punk. This band has the ability to create a song that you won't be able to get out of your head for weeks. Upbeat, catchy pop-punk at it's finest (with a nice little rock touch to add to their sound). Not to mention, this band is full of some of the nicest guys i've ever met. They've been a part of my local scene for a long time now, and they know how to stay true to their fans and pump out some of the catchiest pop-punk anthems to date. You'll be missing out if you don't give this band a shot.

Far From Heroes (www.farfromheroes.com) - Fast, upbeat, pop-punk. What more can you ask for ? Far From Heroes has got it all. With one of the most talented vocalists i've heard in a while at the front of this band, you can't go wrong. Not to mention an amazing, energetic live performance to seal the deal. With only a couple EP's under their belts thus far, and some new material on the way, this band definitely breaks the top 5 in my list of favourite bands. Check out their song 'Raining Bullets' off of their website. It's guaranteed pop-punk fans will eat this stuff up.

Summer Hero (www.summerhero.com) - Recently signed to a major label (Wind-Up Records), Summer Hero are the pefect blend of pop-punk and hardcore. This bands music is packed with unforgettable energy and a stage presence that you can't forget. Another local band in my area that you should all definitely turn your ears to. You can't help but sing along to these guys, whether you want to or not. I highly reccomend Summer Hero. Look for their debut full-length record to drop sometime this year.

Strike Anywhere (www.exitenglish.com) - If you haven't heard of this band already...then what the hell are you waiting for ? These pack everything I could ask for in a political punk-rock band. Hardcore elements, pop-punk elements and straight up punk-rock combined. With a new album out in 2003 entitled "Exit English", Strike Anywhere haven't left my CD player in ages. You may have seen them on AP.nets Top 20 records of the year list, a spot they definitely deserved.

Fonzie (http://www.fonzietime.com) - There's not much to say about these guys, besides the fact that they're one of the best bands i've heard in a while. Fast paced, pop-punk/punk anthems are what we're talking about here. If you're a fan of pop-punk at all, or anything to do with pop-punk, you'll regret if you don't get these guys blasting through your speakers. They've got a music video and a few mp3s off their most recent album available on their site, so I definitely reccomend you check that out A.S.A.P. Are you still reading this ? Go listen to Fonzie!

Well, that's all from me. First, off i'd like to say a big thanks to Jared Kaufman for letting me give all of you a heads up on what i've been listening to in the past little while and giving me the chance to share my tastes with the world. Heh. And secondly, I hope i've introduced some of you to your new favourite bands, and if not, at least you got a chance to hear some fresh new music. Anyways, be sure to tell me what you've been listening to as well, as i'm always open for checking out new stuff. See you all around, peace.

your envious demise is awesome, and a crow left of the murder is fucking amazing

"Mystic River" - yes, good movie. I saw it the same day as "Matrix Revolutions," "Scary Movie 3," and "Elf," and it was the best movie I saw that day.

Your Envious Demise - not too bad, listened to them earlier in the week.

April Sixth - I got the EP for review too, it's okay, nothing great. Tolerable, but I won't exactly be running out to buy the full-length when it's out.

Spill Canvas - incredibly overrated, but hey whatever pops your cherry makes the berry.

Incubus - only listened to A Crow Left... once but it's pretty good.

Strike Anywhere - one of my favorite bands ever.

Today's rotation:

Big D and the Kids Table (http://www.bigdandthekidstable.com) - Good Luck - The ska band's only full-length so far. It takes a few listens to get used to, but overall it's pretty catchy, fun ska with cool vocals that makes for, in the least, the best background music possible. It's only eight bucks in the Asian Man catalgoue, anyway.

Hot Hot Heat (http://www.hothotheat.com) - Make Up the Breakdown - Also is SOMEWHAT of an acquired taste, yet some of the songs hit you instantly. Groovy, organ-laden pop with wavery vocals...although you've probably heard them by now, or, in the least, "Bandages" (which apparently is the best song ever when you're high). I feel guilty for not making an effort this moment to check out their older stuff (Knock Knock, etc.).

Weezer (http://www.weezer.com) - Pinkerton - I hadn't listened to it in well over a year, so I finally pulled it out today. Maybe I'm a little hypocritical for saying this, but - I think it's overrated while still being one of (if not THE) the most influential albums of the last ten years. Still a good album, and contains some of the most personal confessionals ever displayed on audio. Rivers's near-pedophilic Asian fetish? Come on, if that's not straight-from-the-diary, I don't know what is.

Every Time I Die (http://www.shittydudes.com) - Hot Damn! - Best splash page ever? Possibly. One of the best hard/metalcore albums from last year? Fuck yes.

Jimmy Eat World (http://www.jimmyeatworld.net) - Bleed American - A new record on the way coupled with the fact that I haven't listened to this in a long time either pulled it out of my collection. Just a good pop-rock album, really, save for the title track (the best track, and most hard-hitting).

hellogoodbye
i cant wait for their ep, that song alone on the flash page before the dtr site is gunna be worth it alone, altho shimmy shimmy quaterturn is a diff. unique song that kicks too.

not long after
go check out newschoolrecords.com and go to their download site and hook urself up with nla's the guy who lost his girl....the song is great and so was their last cd, ep coming in may i think and is said to be poppier than their last effort, time will tell...but if this song is a sign of things to come, im impressed

autopilot off
their new stuff is sounding really good, cant wait for the dont look down/apo split....going to be 2 good bands on 1 good cd

the prize fight
even tho i dont agree with rereleasing their ep, it was pretty damn good, even their older stuff is gold...but i want new music! not stuff i already have!!!

last but certainly not least, lucky boys confusion,
i heart a lot of people dont like them on this site, for reasons i hav no idea, theyre the nicest band ive ever met just looking to catch a break with elektra, music thats catchy as hell and its not the same as the stuff thats on the market now, if ur into pop punk/power pop/ or jsut rock and ur lookin for sumtin different outta the genre, giv them a listen, ull be pleasently surprised

No if they made a movie about the 1972 Soviet vs. Canada Summit Series that would be the best movie ever.

Those were pretty good picks but now check these guys out!

Bayside (Sirens and Condolences) - great Dark pop/rock album. These guys are killer and I bet that these guys will be next huge VICTORY band (Thursday, Taking Back Sunday). But really check these guys out they are awesome. Reminds me of Alkaline Trio. www.baysiderocks.com

Off the Record (Nothing New) - Really good Punk/metal album out on NEW SCHOOL RECORDS. These guys are soooooo awesome. They have an awesome live show and they are all really nice guys. They are from L.A. and everyone should go check them out. www.otrmusic.com or www.purevolume.com/offtherecord

Cursive (The Ugly Organ)- I totally forgot to get this album, I dont know why, these guys are one of my favorite bands now. They totally rock hard, They are sooo amazing, and I heard that they have awesome stage presence when they play. Seriously veryone should go buy this CD!

Mesawest (demos) - These guys totally rock. They are from the O.C. and are about to release a 4 song demo. They have a couple songs posted on purevolume and they sound killer! I hear they have an awesome live show as well. Everyone should go check these guys out, seriously. I creamed a little when i heard these songs. www.mesawestmusic.com or www.purevolume.com/mesawest

Coheed and Cambria (In Keeping Secrets...) - These guys are amazing, i don't care what you haters say, these guys rock my socks off. When i put in this cd, I rock out with my cock out, I let it all hang out with my wang out! These guys are so awesome, seriously. I've been following these guys forever. If you haven't heard them (which i doubt), do yourslf a favor and go get this CD. www.coheedandcambria.com

I said if they made a movie about it, It would be the greatest movie ever. Because that 8 game 2 continent hockey series wasn't just about hockey it was the Cold War as well. No other sport event can come close to that. Schools and Work were shut down in Canada when the games were on.

cant deny that miracle is still one of the best sports movies ever made, if not the best. especially if you're american.

What I am listening to -

Motion City Soundtrack - Whats to say about these guys? They are incredible....every song gets better than the last..If you're reading this and you don't know this band, go to their purevolume page now and listen. www.purevolume.com/motioncitysoundtrack ..I am the movie is quite possibly one of the best cds of 2003.

Incubus - A Crow Left Of The Murder - Very good cd. A little harder than Morning View, but still good. These guys can write....Anybody see the part on the dvd with brandons injury? Hilarious.

Incubus - Morning View - When I bought "A crow..," I just had to listen to Morning View again and it reminded me of how much I love this band. Morning View is so incredible...I personally think its the best cd of their career.

Movielife - Tate's post causing 50 people to bring up the fact that they missed the movielife.....made me miss them too. I guess theres a lot of Movielife "bashers" here but I always thought they were better than any drive thru band.

Your Envious Demise - I also had to check out this band for myself and I was impressed. I see big things for this band.

Salem - Love It Or Leave Me. This ep is great....Best song: confessions.

What I've been hating.....

Fall Out Boy - WHAT THE FUCK. The first 3 songs on this cd are MINORLY okay....the rest is shit. Why the hell is everyone at this site in love with them? I dont see it.... now dont come yelling at me if your a FOB fan, its just my opinion. But if anyone here doesnt like them, tell me. I'd like to know that im not the only one.

Hidden In Plain View - Their ep is not that good at all.....also wondering why a lot of people love them. Maybe the full length will be better though.

What I'm looking forward to -

Senses Fail - Let It Enfold You (I don't care what people say...i'm gonna love this album)

Motion City Soundtrack At the Quest, Minneapolis 4/2 (isn't it great when you live in the same city as one of your favorite bands?)

Warped Tour '04 - Havent seen a better lineup in years...(it really beats last years.)

I guess that's all I could come up with right now.... My iTunes is looking pretty bland right now.
