I feel the title is description enough.

Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight = one of the greatest moments in music.
Appreciate. Or you're wrong.

Greatest album of all time.
Very possibly. In my mind it will always be better than Sgt. Pepper's.

Same. I've always enjoyed Sgt. Pepper's but it's not even remotely close. A Day In The Life is incredible, the rest is just good.

A good majority of the songs on Abbey Road, however, are incredible.

I really wish they'd omitted Maxwell's Silver Hammer though.

Now this is an album that deserves it's own appreciation thread. Although I'd say Sgt. Peppers is slightly more influential in my mind, Abbey Road is a killer album.

Influential sure. Abbey Road remains miles better.

so dope!
I felt that intelligent sounding comments had already be made and I'd represent layman's terms for all those... laymen... out there...

Everyone is going to hate me and give me shit for this, but I'm a just a tiny, little bit tired of hearing/talking about it. It's an amazing album, for sure, don't get me wrong.
But we all already knew that.
That being said, it's infinitely better than having a bunch of Forever the Sickest Kids/All Time Low threads here. Like, far, far better.
Then don't pay attention to this thread lol.
I agree, this is the greatest album of all time. In my top 5.

Haha, eh, I might stick around. I'm just kind of with Craig on the whole Beatles thing. (check the essential albums of the 60's/70's threads if you don't know what I'm referring to), but at the same time, I do really love them.
I just don't agree with people out there who accept them as the "greatest band of all time" just because everybody else does. Form your own opinions. Not that I'm saying anyone in this thread who hailed this as "the greatest album ever" is one of those people, but still - they are out there.
But anyways, definitely a superb album, just a little burnt out on it is all, haha. Which makes zero sense, but whatever.

this album, or the beatles in general? haha. important band, but not the greatest ever & i loathe that mind-set that claims stating otherwise as being "ignorant". i find that a little contradictory really haha (not actually directed at anyone on ap)
abbey road, definitely top 3, probably top two, favourite beatles album. & just out of interest, doesn't the cover carry on that crazy conspiracy of "paul is dead"? i can never pick up on that stuff however haha
Haha I used to be pretty into all that Paul Is Dead stuff. Almost every cover has a bunch of "evidence" that Paul was killed in a car crash in '66 and replaced by a look/sound-alike. Like on Revolver, how Paul is the only person who has both eyes displayed on the case. On Abbey Road, Paul's absence of shoes is the "evidence". :-D

Haha, oh yeah. That stuff is so ridiculous but it's funny. I know there's supposedly "clues" abound on Sgt. Pepper's and the white album. Something about how in a Sgt. Peppers group shot, Paul is the only one with his back turned or something.

Oh, this album mostly. I'm with you though, as I stated in my other post in here. I'm all up for general Beatles discussion, though.

oh just the album? i'm talking in general too haha. i enjoy discussing the beatles, but only with those of open mind. people either claim them as the greatest band ever, barr none & any other opinion is flat out wrong, or that ever so clever view of "worst, most overrated garbage out" haha. trying to find middle ground in people is hard sometimes. but i had fun in micah's thread, it was great to find a lot of middle ground with people, even though i don't think i changed anyone's mind whatsoever haha

Haha I see, I definitely agree with you on this one. For all I know, they very well could have been the greatest band ever. All things taken into consideration, it's quite possible. But this is based on my personal opinion/observations, and not just popular opinion. Still doesn't make them my favorite band ever, but they are amongst my favorites.

I always ignored the B side but it is soo amazing. I love how it all flows together and "The End" is the most incredible song. I absolutely adore this album.
My favorite from the album would either be Golden Slumbers or You Never Give Me Your Money.

Why on earth would you ignore the second side?
Nice to see Golden Slumbers finally getting some love as well.

The best Beatles album, probably the second best release ever in my book.
The first being...?
The first being...?
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, I'll bet.
Which happens to my favorite as well.

I have the same problem with this record that I do with every other Beatles record and that there's one or two songs that are either mediocre or could've been left out and I think those tracks are Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Because. That said, the medley is perfect.
Dr. Acula

I switch between this and Sgt Peppers being my favorite Beatles albums. Great, GREAT, record.

Sgt. Peppers is my favorite, but Abbey Road was actually the one that started my vinyl collection. My dad had a first pressing and saved it for me until I was in high school.

I love Because. Octopus's Garden on the other hand...

Maxwell and Octopus are clearly the worst songs.

Pet Sounds
EDIT: Thought it was brought up, ITAOTS is right there too. For me I think, Pet Sounds is above all my favorite release of all time, and then there's a number of albums that probably all could slot into that number 2 spot.

Spectacular album, although it's the only major Beatles album that I didn't like at first.
This and Revolver are the only Beatles albums that I actually give a damn about. Maybe Let It Be as well. Sgt Pepper just has no spark for me.

I've been one of Let It Be's proponents on here for a while now. Vastly underrated release. Magical Mystery Tour is quite good as well.
As for Sgt. Pepper's, it has A Day In The Life and for that alone it is great.
MMT is great, yeah. It of course has it's crappier tracks (Your Mother Should Know, Baby You're A Rich Man).

Most of the later Beatles albums have those one or two songs that just aren't up to par. Maxwell/Octopus, Yellow Submarine, Blue Jay Way, The Long And Winding Road (killed by Spector), Good Morning, Good Morning, half of The White Album, etc.
Awww I love Blue Way Jay.
IWasaCamera
08/24/08, 10:12 AM
Psychedelic for the sake of it. Unlike I Am The Walrus though, it isn't good enough to pull it off.
If I ever do drugs I'm going to listen to Blue Jay Way. I'm sure it would be awesome.
