Who?

Minimalist folk delicately backed by male-female vocals. That about sums it up.

How Is It?

Being this is the band's tenth or eleventh album, it's easy to see why all fourteen songs on Lovers Prayers scream road-weariness and a maturity beyond the album cover's fifth-grade flower doodle. The vocals are the best aspect to Lovers (and I suspect the band) as the instruments tend to act as the songs' ceiling fan: providing some comfort and cadence to Elizabeth Mitchell and Daniel Littleton's soothing duet. The restless ear will wander after three or four songs here, unfortunately. It seems to be more of a roadtrip-in-the-South soundtrack or just some damn good music to study to. Either way you approach it, Ida have certainly created a nice full-length that'll put your ears to rest (in the best possible way).

I recently got an older album from this band. I really need to find some of the other releases.

This is a really good album. Very relaxed and mellow, which is exactly what I'm into. :) I'm definitely going to check out their earlier work.

Their earlier work is the best, agreed. Ida is one of my all time favorites though, ever since Tales. Fantastic record but Heart Like a River and Shhh.. will always be in my favorites though.

To back up what UpDownleftRight was saying, Heart Like a River is an amazing album.
One of my personal favorites.
