Geez, I leave for a few hours to go to a show and it seems like the world exploded over here (see a few posts down)! Why can't everyone just get along! Hahaha..

Anyways, on with the update: Fall Out Boy decided to make tonight very special for me as I had the honor of listening to some of their newly recorded demos. It reminded me of a few years ago when a burnt CD was sent to my mailbox containing 5 of the original still unsigned band demos that later became famous on, "Take This To Your Grave" - the first time those songs hit my ears I knew something special was going on with this band, and they have now progressed and shocked me once again. The exact same feeling is back. I can't really say it any other way: these songs are fucking good. I can't really describe the sound because I don't want to stick them in a hole before you have heard them. They are however in my opinion, a perfect step up lyrically and musically from where the band has left us, and if I was forced with a gun to compare them, they remind me of Chicago Was So Two Years Ago, and Grand Theft Autumn -- but I really wish I didn't have to, because they stand on their own as something new and fresh. I have said it a million times, but this is the band that is going to save 'pop-punk' (although I feel this word has now derived a negative connotation with most fans, and that sort of upsets me, because I don't want it to take away from the lyrical and music quality some bands are about to unleash). Nonetheless, their live show was off the wall (literally) with energy, and it is so refreshing to meet bands who are just generally nice and good down to earth people. I can honestly say that I have never been so proud to have seen a band grow ...

Matchbook Romance also kicked some ass tonight with a great set that showed they should be the ones selling out shows, and Dynamite Boy was the real treat with a solid opening that hopefully opened a lot of kids eyes to a band that has been a favorite of mine for years. I can't wait to hear their new disc. Mest, well .. was Mest.

I don't recall tate raving about the mest album - I believe he said it was a great summer album - poppy and catchy. That doesn't mean he liked it - i think its a catchy album too, but I listened to rooftops like 5 times then got bored of them. Sometimes bands can interest you at first but then leave a bitter taste in your mouth after a while.

I agree, i was at the show last saturday night and am a huge fan of fall out boy, definitly my favorite band, but wow. They're live show is amazing. And the guys were really cool, anyone who wans to meet them, just look for the short guys walking around the venue, it'll be them, they love their fans and wait by the merch table while the other bands are playing... I cant wait for their new stuff. Pete told me at the show to watch for something new in March/April, cant wait..

I'm not really picking out anyone individually, but isn't it kind of.......peculiar, I guess....to say that Fall Out Boy is "[fucking] amazing?" They're catchy, some of their lyrics are PRETTY good if not overwrought and overdone, they're sincere, but...doesn't it take a little more than that? Oh well. Enjoy.

tate is right, Pete let me listen to those demos before the show last night, and they are really damned good. fall out boy rocked last night.. now if only the crowd at the aladdin was a little better, it would have been the perfect show

demos = amazing

haha, yah i remember that too .. i have known Tony's little brother for years, so we used to get a lot of news updates from him. I actually respect what Tony does ... he is prolly more 'punk-rooted' then most, where he comes from, and his past. Now days I am not into their music at all, it kinda bores me .. but back in the day, I was a huge "drawing board" fan .. i just think the label pushed a 'catchy single jingle' that they needed to have .. and it watered down their sound to something that i dont really enjoy. but hey, i still support those making music their living ..

I am so glad someone said that Fall Out Boy will save the pop-punk connotation. Pop-punk gets a bad rap, but if you call Fall Out Boy pop-punk, then that's proof that it's NOT a bad thing, and never was. My band having played a show with them, they're really cool guys. I wish I was a fan earlier, but it's never too late to love a great band.

can someone please tell me what's so great about fallout boy? i've listened to them at least a hundred times because all i hear about them is how "amazing" they are but every time i get just as dissapointed as the last. maybe they will impress me with their live show.anyhow.......i was wondering if anyone knows the lineup for the show because i can't get there until after it starts and i'm going for matchbook and i don't want to miss them.
