I think this looks pretty sweet.

this looks absolutely ridiculous.

i'm convinced statham will sign on for any script that shows up at his doorstep.

Ew, why is Jason Stathm in it?

I have said for years they should have pay per view death row gladiator battles.

by the way, death race looks fucking horrible

Did any of you see 2000? I loved that movie.

Jason Statham is the perfect example of a great actor who moonlights as an action star and does terrible Uwe Boll and Paul W.S. Anderson movies.

I'm sorry, my foot got stuck in the bandwagon... Ahh!

he doesn't moonlight as it anymore though. that's just what he does.

i loved him in snatch and lock stock when they came out, but now all he does is adrenaline action films.

minus revolver, which blew, and that king movie that looked to be on the level of a sci-fi original. it just literally seems like he doesn't turn down a script anymore and just makes whatever they give him.

i mean, kudos to him, cause it's working for him. i just think he's got some better films in him.

The Bank Job, dude! A lot more than one of those adrenaline action films. But to be honest, I thought Crank was fun. Dude plowing Amy Smart and running around to Refused songs...

I liked him in The Italian Job too.

FondestMemory
06/15/08, 10:10 PM
oh shit. i forgot about the bank job.

it somehow got lost in the three transporters and two cranks.

i'm not knocking everything he's done, i just think he can do a lot better every once in a while.

DickfaceChillah

I mean, he's most likely got a long career ahead of him. Even though he is a huge action star, I think he's kind of established a foot print that's not a flavor of the month thing. He'll probably have some good roles in the future, maybe even near future!

Crank is such a damn fun movie. Loved it. I like Statham, he's just a likeable movie star, and I enjoy almost everything he's in (besides the Dungeon Siege movie...my god that was bad).

As far as I'm concerned any movie that has fast cars, guns and music I like then I'm bound to at least enjoy some of it even if the rest is a bit weak.

The more I see preview for Death Race, the more I think it's going to be even stupider than the Happening. With all the great movies coming out this year, it's weird that we've had 4-5 ridiculous ones as well.

this movie looks like they wanted to do a Twisted Metal movie, but couldn't get the rights and just did thier own thing. could be a good rental.

I'd watch this just because it's mindless fun. Probably something along the lines of Shoot 'Em Up.

I think people are taking it too seriously. I miss the action films where the dialogue was cheesy, the explosions were huge, and (sorry) the girls were bangin'. That's action for me. I don't want to have to think about the plot, I just want to see shit explode.

Batman spoiled me. I want my action movies to have good plots, acting, and character development now. In fact, I wonder if I would''ve liked The Mummy if I hadn't seen Batman the week before...

how is everyone taking this movie so seriously? it's obviously just supposed to be a mindless action movie with absurd chase scenes and numerous explosions.

not everything can be shawshank redemption or schindler's list.

I was really disappointed when the trailer didn't show that at all. When I first noticed it was a DR trailer, I was waiting for someone to get run over, but nothing! What the fuck?!

It's right up Michael Bay's alley. Over the top ridiculous action sequences held together by minimal plot.

Paul W. S. Anderson is pretty bad. He might need to stop making movies after this one.

If anyone is in KC, you can win tickets to see it August 19.

Well, I am heading back to school next week I believe. I don't start until the 25th but I need to go back early to try and find a job and stuff.

I don't think it would be worth me driving back 2.5 hours to see Death Race.

on friday night i went to my high school's first game of the season. it was away. we won. on the way home i said i don't to just do nothing tonight i'm so pumped (we won one game in the last two seasons). this could be the year we make a come back. so we decide to go to the movies since it was the only thing open on the way home. i wanted to see pineapple express but this was the only movie that still had a showing we could make. when my friends asked what it was about all i said was "twisted metal: the movie". they were sold. movie was better than i thought it would be. they could have done much worse with it. it's exactly what the trailer makes it out to be.happy ending i would just wait to see it when it comes out on video though.

anyone else see it yet?

It wasn't that bad. Joan Allen almost stole the whole movie as the warden. She also has the best (and most incoherent) line of any movie this year:

"Fuck with me and we'll see who shits on the sidewalk!"
