Shock Till You Drop reports that Child's Play producer David Kirschner is preparing to give his franchise the remake/reboot treatment. The news comes direct from Kirschner, who tells the site:

"We're discussing it with Don Mancini, who has written all of them with us from the beginning...the next one we're going to do is we're going back and remaking the first one and even pushing it further and making a very terrifying version of the first one, which is pretty scary as it is."

yay? nay? i'm into it, given the original producers are remaking it.

I think the original was great, so I'm super excited for this. I hope Mancini directs, so he can truly make the movie he wants (within the production company's limites, lolz). I just hope he doesn't go the Seed of Chucky movie way. Fun movie, but I don't want my Chucky as funny as he is now. Funny still, as always, but I think they make the mistake of making him a main character and giving him too much camera time. It's not scary, cause you don't feel stalked, you feel like the stalker. That takes the scariness out of horror.

this movie was so incredibally scary when it came out because 'my buddy' dolls were huge and chucky looked just like one.

kids don't play with that kind of shit anymore, so i'm curious how terrifiying it can actually be now.

yea rob zombie sucks. this is being remade by the original writers of child's play, so they probably won't destroy it completely like the halloween remake.

I was traumatized for many years. (as in, I just got over it)
But Chucky still gives me the creeps.
