I severely doubt that this is in fact true. Chris always talks about being true about his music and for him to pull a stunt like that would really sink his integrity. Ofcourse, if he did pre-record the concert, I would lose quite a deal of respect for him. I didn't really enjoy his new album with the full band, but he still had my support for putting out heartfelt songs. Yet, with the idea of this being true, it would be awfully difficult for me and probably many fans to see him in the same light as before.

yeah dude, i was at the show...and r u retarded???, there was absolutely no way that show was pre recorded....he played 3 songs on a piano, he fucked a couple times, there is no way. john nolan came out played brilliant dance with chris...was that pre recorded? no....before u submit something like that make sure you know what the hell your talking about....this post is completely false, and the show was very good and as john nolan said "a super emo valentines day extravaganza"

wow, whoever submitted this news post is a complete idiot. I was at the show with my girlfriend, and in Saints and Sailers the music "cutting out" is not what happened. What actually happened was Chris was given the wrong guitar, as that song is supposed to be in drop D tunning. So as chris began to play, the chords were wrong, he stopped, made a joke about that song not being on the setlist and thats why he had the wrong guitar, detuned, and started again. As for Jamie he clearly said at the begining of the song that he NEVER plays that cover anymore and doesn't remember it...but since many many people kept screaming out to hear it he was nice enough to play all that he could remember. Mike you are either a complete idiot or looking to start trouble. Seriously what would even be the point of pre-recording a show????? And to comment on what the guy above me said, your absolutly right, John Nolan wouldnt have come out and played a song if he was just playing along to the music.....Also keep this in mind....The whole show was acoustic, Just Chis and 1 guitar.....So there were no leads parts during any of the songs.....why the fuck would they go through all the trouble of recording him playing all these songs alone just to play them back to an audience? That makes no sense at all.

yea i was there and it definetly didnt seem like he was doing that. and the guy who posted before was right, he stopped playing during saints and sailors because they gave him the wrong guitar and it was out of tune, and you can't play a song with tuning like his if its in the wrong tuning. so he tuned it and started again. thats a pretty bad thing to post about and you said it yourself, that is a stupid thing to do on valentines day in front of his home state. which is why i think he wouldnt. it would be pointless, and the acoustics were good only because its an auditorium meant for sound, and its hard for an acoustic guitar to sound bad somewhere like that. so there you are, i think that he didnt pre-record it. it was an amazing show though and it sucks that you'd try to slander his good name and the show

RayofSunlight13
02/15/04, 07:50 AM
I was at that concert too... and chris didn't "forget the words" he had the wrong guitar. Seriously... if the wrong pre-recorded song started playing- don't you think the audience would have started singing a DIFFERENT SONG? Dashboard plays his songs in many different tunings... that is why he kept switching guitars... and he got the wrong guitar for saints and sailors so when he started playing it sounded like shit. So he stopped, re-tuned his guitar, and started again. And UCONN has an amazing music program, so it shouldn't surprise you that their main theatre has good acoustics. Conecticut students don't pay $15,000 a year to take music classes at a school with terrible theatres. You should really be more careful at the accusations you make before causing problems

02/15/04, 08:17 AM
nevermind the fact that this guy who was supposedly a fan of Chris for years...and has seen him 4 times live now...mixed up the song title for "Saints and Sailors" TWICE in his post. So who is anti-Dashboard here? The people who publicly bash him...of course. But even moreso, the people who claim to be fans, and spread lies about him in order to make others hate him. What a douchebag.

what annoyed me was the fact that this idiot didnt know what he was talking abotu since JOhn NOlan came out and played a song with chris you fucktard and his guitar was messed up during saints and sailors it was in the wrong tuning

further more what pisses me off more is that Tate said he would never post rumors well obviously he always posts anything that will get a contreversy going causes hes a ****** who needs the attention. IT is disgusting of you tate to post something like that about a guy who prides hinmself about writing music thats personal to him and playing shows in personal envirments. You are a bastard for posting this you should realize alot of people come here and posting stupid rumors is a completely childish thing to do

Posting rumors does suck, but if I'm not mistaken Jason Tate didn't post this. It was Jared Kaufman. But it's basically their site so then can post whatever they want.

dont bite my head off or anything, i just wanted to give you an FYI-
jason didnt post this, calm down. and im sure jared didnt have fucking cynical plans to ruin chris carrabba's career. thats why he asked for validation. if it WAS true it WOULD be news. but now it is good to know that its not true, and that 'Mike' is an idiot or jerk.

Hi. I was present at the show last night, as I go to UConn. I was right in front of Chris Carrabba for the first three songs, as I had a press & photo pass. I can absolutely guarantee that he was doing the real thing. As for his mess up during saints and sailors, he himself explained the error, he had switched guitars to a guitar in drop d tuning for another song, but got nervous and did this song instead. when he started playing, i noticed that the tuning was off and was suprised. and he felt bad, so he changed the tuning to drop d in front of everyone, and began again. As for "jamie", i've seen Chris do the same thing in a concert, where he played just a little bit of "the moon is down" at the end of a song. And he was in his hometown, he had his whole family present in a reserved section, and I don't think he'd fake it in front of them. I've seen Dashboard four times, and I don't even really like him anymore, but I just want to clear this up. So, basically, this guy Mike is just really wrong.

even though the entire story isn't true, it has been established that chris screwed up playing songs he played almost every night several times during the set. i think it's pathetic that he can't get them right after playing them for several years.

i wasn't even going to respond to this entire thread but i saw this ignorant post of yours. i have been playing in front of people for years, in front of people i know very well and in fact that almost every show i draws blanks in some songs when it comes to lyrics and notes. it happens man to the best of us. so shut your face and accept the fact that no one is perfect.

As another witness to the show last night -- it was my 8th dashboard show and DEFINITELY not prerecorded. I was amazed by the show because it was completely acoustic, he played three new songs--2 on a keyboard (which he said he had never done before in front of an audience), he played old songs, etc. etc. These are the things that should be reported about the show... I can't believe a such a "fan" would cross Dashboard in such a way. It's a hefty accusation, and competely false.

you have to be retarded...obviously if it was pre-recorded YOU wouldnt know about it, even if you were there. They wouldnt make it obviosu that it was pre-recorded or else there would be no point to doing it, unless of course they did it with the intentions of being figured out
