I realized this past week just how frickin great this year is gonna be. We got alot of stuff ready to blow our faces off on the way, you know that? Christ. Well here's 5 bands I recommend you check out now, then keep reading to read about the records I anticipate the most for this year.
Normal Like You (http://www.purevolume.com/normallikeyou) - I've been told that this band is being scoped by every big label and their mother. Whether that word is good or not, take my word when I say this band is great, and I could see why they'd be under label eyes. I'm not sure how to exactly describe them, but they are great rock band in the least.
The Beautiful Mistake (http://www.purevolume.com/thebeautifulmistake) - I remember how much I adored them when I first heard "Light A Match.." last year. One damn fine record, and from the few tracks I've heard off of their new one, it sounds even better. I can't wait to get the full thing.
As Patient Stars Align (http://www.purevolume.com/aspatientstarsalign) - Me and the Kaufster have been ranting about them for like 3 weeks now or so. Me and Kaufman know good music, you can trust us on this one. This is one incredible synth rock band.
Joseph Pilarski (http://www.purevolume.com/josephpilarski) - This is a one man band (looking for a full band though) and he's diverse and super talented. Each song on his pureVOLUME site is a different style of what we like to call "emo". You're gonna love this guy or hate him, but I love him and he'll grab the attention of some of you too.
The Beastie Boys (http://www.thebeastieboys.com) - Legends. Hello? I totally can't wait for their next record. I've always been an incredible fan of these guys. Best part is, it's cool to post about them on absolutePUNK.net because they started out as a punk band. No one in rap has better lyrics. Hell, their lyrics are a world of their own. "If you got bad breath than maybe try scope and if you wash your ass then you best use soap."
Records I'm Highly Anticipating This Year
Over It - Duh. It's Over it, what do you think I'd have to say about anything new by them? They are in the studio now working on a three way split with Never Heard Of It and Stole Your Woman
Head Automatica - Also, Duh. It's Daryl Palumbo's side project. Of course I am dieing for this! I'm even more excited for Glassjaw's next record, but that might not be till next year.
Brand New - A lot of folks have creamed pants just thinking about a Deja Entendu follow up. Hi, I'm one of them.
Fall Out Boy - "Save Your Generation" which can be dled in the news posts here at AP is fuckin awesome as everything. Tate, Kamtin, and Davey got game, so I think we can all trust them on the rest of the demos. We will be blown off the face of Earth by their Island debut.
Taking Back Sunday - Trust me. If you had doubts about them after last year and all that drama crap..lose them now. This band has gotten better, whether you like it or not.
Straylight Run - Well I'm hoping.
Further Seems Forever - Especially in light of recent events, I'm interested to see how this record turns out. It's a shame to see Jason leave, I thought he was everything the band needed and was a perfect addiction to the band. This record will surely be interesting to hear.
Autopilot Off - After hearing that song on SSX 3 for psx2, I am totally anxious for "Make A Sound" to drop in April.
My Chemical Romance - You already know this record will kick your ass. This will most likely be one of the most creative things released this year.
New Found Glory - C'mon we all need the new NFG when the weather gets warmer. I got a feeling this record will be better than Sticks And Stones which was kind of a disapointment save for 2 or 3 songs.
The Used - Remember them before The Taste of Ink and before The Osbournes? I do. And I loved them just as much and can't wait for the new record. Especially since I've heard it's gonna be much more experimental.
Northstar - I still say this band is the most underrated band in the scene. They are semi big, yeah. But they are so incredibly talented and everything there is about beautiful. I've been waiting for their new record for a while now.
Midtown - From what I hear..the new record is a big growth for them. After the first song we all got to hear from this record, I'm hooked and ready to see what else they got in the bag. Their last record was record of the year here at AP 2 years ago, so they have some shoes to fill, and I am more than confident they'll be more than living up to the challenge.
Finch - If you aren't interested in seeing the direction this band has gone, then light yourself on fire. I have been awaiting their next record since March of 2 years ago when WIITB was released.
Recover - Wark is right. Totally pay attention to this band. I'm not gonna say any band shreds just cause I don't think that word is for me, but Recover um..slices? hell. Just keep your eyes open for them.
Name Taken - We told you so. You are quite welcome. maybe AP's new slogan should be "we told you so" ? ha.
Saosin - EP was nuts. Full length is driving me nuts just waiting to hear it. Did you hear that demo a few months back? I still listen to that, its so good.
The Starting Line - You know you're a sucker too.
See? There is surely a hell of a lot more to be looking forward too, but I don't want to go on forever, and it already seems like I did. This year will just be awesome for music. And I thought last year was great. Well I hope you enjoyed my little overview thing, if not well that sucks you read it then doesn't it? See ya next week and don't play lawn darts.
