Good-Bye To August, Hello To Autumn
Floating along the tide of the ocean
In the light of the moon's path
Where we'd sit in wonder
Of those hydrogen implosions in the sky
And wish upon the flames of the candles
For this fairy ale to end
As they do for children
Just before we shut our eyes to sleep
Firefly's caught in the summer's breeze
Carry us away from the dawning day
Morning seeks to bring about the reality
That the mirror doesn't reflect our image
The smoke contaminates our tender lungs
Cancer eases our shaking
Anxiety from having to watch
Collapsing bones and hearts in car crashes
Turn to the sand thats become our foundation
The hour glass is ticking
As we're all turning to ash
Scattered across these silent streets
Firefly's caught in the summer's breeze
Carry us away from the dawning day
Morning seeks to bring about the reality
That the mirror doesn't reflect our image
Sirens ring like gunshots through the night
Caught in the flashing lights
Pounding against the backdrop
Of a few lives falling apart stone by stone
Until we're the avalanche on the mountain
Suffocating our every wish
Now we can't even dream
Just pass out to the sound of our breathing
Firefly's caught in the summer's breeze
Carry us away from the dawning day
Morning seeks to bring about the reality
That the mirror doesn't reflect our image
I've seen your eyes before
Yet I can't remember where
I've touched your skin before
But I can't remember when...
I've seen your eyes before
They were once my own
I've felt your heartbeat once
Then my own stopped
No real story behind it just... I dunno growing up
Floating along the tide of the ocean
In the light of the moon's path
Where we'd sit in wonder
Of those hydrogen implosions in the sky
And wish upon the flames of the candles
For this fairy ale to end
