I really wish Tim Burton didn't have anything to do with Big Fish or Beetlejuice, because I really enjoy both of those films, but honestly cannot stand his others.
i find that i am love/hate with Burton and i hate more of his movies then i love.

I thought Beetlejuice was great, and Sleepy Hollow wasn't terrible. The aesthetics in Sleepy Hollow are fantastic.

It truly is. It's the only Burton film I love. The book is just as good.

If something is being praised so much wouldn't you want to see it knowing there's a decent chance that you'll enjoy it. It's like you're not going to see out of spite and probably robbing yourself of finding something new to enjoy.

And with you having a Larry David avatar, I would think you would somewhat enjoy that. Not really. Doing something out of spite usually means you're screwing things up for someone besides yourself. No one cares if you don't see it or not but if something is getting such critical acclaim as this why would you not want to check it out?

Yes, I know the definition of spite. My original statement was im not going to go see The Dark Knight, im not saying I won't rent it when it comes out or eventually view it at a later date. Im just not going to go see it in theaters, I don't want to.

Because I haven't seen any of the other batman movies, im not going to go see this one, that is stupid?
So you have never had one person talk about something so much, you never wanted to hear or see anything about it ever again? Im constantly hearing about this movie, at work, my friends, this website along with others, the hype has just killed it for me.
So please enlighten me on the intelligent way of looking at it.

Also, just because you've never a Batman movie before doesn't mean you can't enjoy this one. I had never seen a Bond movie before Die Another Day but with all of the hype surrounding it I went and saw it. Turns out it's 6 years later and it's one of my favorite movie franchises and I've owned 2 different box sets of the whole thing.

Well another big reason why I won't be seeing it in theaters is because I get horribly annoyed when im in the theater by the smallest things; someone talking, making noises, excessive laughing. I've just been finding it harder and harder to make myself go see a movie in theaters these days.
But yeah my friends have asked me and i've politely turned them down and said basically the same thing I told you, im just not up for it now, I plan on waiting a while. It is just not one of my top priorities.

The book is pretty much the same in themes and general plot outline, but it manages to be a bit more stylish, whereas in the movie, the stylish-ness of it seems very forced. Although a lot of people seem to disagree with me, I don't think Palahniuk's books will make good movies for the sheer fact that unless he wrote the scripts, they won't ever be as good as the books. And the ending is different in the book anyways.

Same here but there's people out there who don't see film as art but solely as entertainment. But if you know a thing or two about film, it makes you look at every movie in a different way and helps you appreciate a lot of movies you may not have enjoyed otherwise.

That movie used to make me cry when I was a little kid. Especially when *SPOILER* Depp left Leo in the bathtub overnight.
