This week I'm going to recommend a couple bands that I'm sure some of you know, but I feel they are VERY underrated and could use a lot more exposure or not enough people know of them yet. So until these bands reach the final mark of world domination I won't stop making sure people know who they are. Also, my boy Nick from The Junior Varsity will be sending out some of his picks so peep those under mine as well. Enjoy.

Park (http://www.parkmusic.com) - I finally just bought their latest album, It Won't Snow Where You're Going, and now I'm kicking myself for not getting it sooner. I had always heard great things about it and didn't doubt it would be good, but other things just always came before it. Now I must admit I regret that and wish I had bought it when it was first released. With that aside, this album is marvelous. I think Ladd has some amazing vocals mixed with his bands amazing harmonies and perfect timing on additional effects (i.e., screams, sounds, etc). Standout track: "Dear Sweet Imapler"

Brazil (http://www.braziltheband.com/) - I had heard this band a long time ago and wasn't too impressed so I just tossed them aside. Then I heard they'd be on the Coheed & Cambria and Funeral For A Friend tour so I decided to check them out again. With their new song just released on their site they have taken a new stand in my opinion. This band has me anticipating their upcoming record A Hostage And The Meaning of Life just as much as some other big names dropping this year. I think what caught me about this band was at how some parts the lead singer's voice reminded me of Cedric (The Mars Volta) from when he was in At The Drive In (just as some parts not all the time). I definitely can't wait to check out these guys on the upcoming tour as well. Do yourself a favor and go listen to their song at their site.

Northstar (http://www.isthisthingloaded.com) - I LOVE THIS BAND. Another album, Pollyanna, that I'm anticipating just as much as the big names coming out this year. Is This Thing Loaded is definitely one of my favorite albums and sure as heck does not receive a lot of the credit that it deserves. I've heard a lot of people talk about this band and I've NEVER heard anyone say anything bad about them. I just think more people need to know them and get into them. Alabama CAN rock!

Moneen (http://www.moneen.com) - And this band proves that Canada can rock too. These guys are by far nowhere near where they need to be on the popularity level. This is one of the bands that puts their heart and soul into every performance every night. You can tell this band loves their music and loves what they're doing .. with a passion. They possibly are some of the nicest guys ever as well which even rubs off from their live show while you watch them. I mean these guys have to have something to offer if bands like Taking Back Sunday, Saves The Day, Brand New, Senses Fail, and more continue to scoop them up to take them on tour.

As Patient Stars Align (http://www.purevolume.com/aspatientstarsalign) - I know there are some fans of synth rock (i.e. Motion City Soundtrack, The Junior Varsity, etc) here so all of you need to check out this band. This band is making it's way onto my set of recommendations for the third week in a row. This band has it guys. Chris March (February, October, whatever his name is) and I have not stopped listening to this band. We can see it .. they have the potential to go far. I will not stop 'til this band is on the tips of everyone's tongues. Might I add, this band has probably only been a band for two or three months. Now tell me what you think.

Anyway, I hope some of you are digging my recommendations and either 1). haven't heard of some of these bands are going to check them out, 2). have heard of them and just haven't listened in awhile, or 3). were skeptical at first to even check them out and will so now. With that said, check out my boy Nick's (The Junior Varsity) recommendations below. 'Til next week...

Disclaimer: The coincidences in our picks was just that .. they were not planned. It's just great minds think alike.

Nick - The Junior Varsity (http://www.thejuniorvarsity.com)

Fire When Ready (http://www.firewhenready.com) - This band hails from New York and we have played a couple shows with them. They are really good Indie-rock-emo-i-dont-even-know. These guys are currently touring like MACHINES all over the place. Do yourself a favor and go see them.

June (http://www.drivelikejune.com) - Formerly, Drive Like June, this is a band to look out for this summer . They put on a great show, have great tunes and are like brothers to us. I'm really excited to hear this bands album that they will be putting out with The Vinyl Summer Recordings (http://www.thevinylsummer.com) this summer. But for now go check them out here (http://www.purevolume.com/june).

Moneen (http://www.moneen.com) - Friends of ours from Canada. Hands down - The BEST "Agressive Melodic Pop" band I have ever heard. Their newest album "Are we really happy.." is incredible. The only thing that tops their music is their live show and their kindness as humans.

The Phoenix Rising (http://www.thephoenixrising.net) - These guys are from our neck of the woods. We played our CO-CD release show with them in Chicago and had a really good time. Their new album Lullaby out on Action Height Records (http://www.actionheights.com/) sounds incredible and was recorded at Nada Studios.

Park (www.parkmusic.com) - We play with these guys more than most of you kids wash your girl jeans. Great friends of ours with an INCREDIBLE new album out on Lobster. If you haven't checked these guys out you're wasting your time with anything you listen to right now. Also be sure to say hi to their brand new bass player Jansen he is on tour with them right now and has a great heart.

Also, I'd like to thank Chris from Blame Twilight (http://www.blametwilight.com) for filling in on drums for us last week because Tony could not make a show. He did an incredible job and it means more than the world to us that he filled in for us at the last minute by listening to our CD for 2 1/2 hours straight all the way to the show to learn his parts.

Seriously, you're a little slow on repping the Park CD, but they deserve the publicity. It Won't Snow Where You're Going is possibly the best CD that has come out this year. (and i say that with expectations that it will continue to be one of the best CDs this year...not because its only February...you follow?) I think Park found themselves a Further Seems Forever sound (at least instrumentally). They are really fucking awesome.

Park will never get enough coverage for their cd unfortuanetly; but its fucking incredible none the less.........other bands their deserve some share of the pie this week:

Chase Pagan (http://www.chasepagan.com) - Just think Bright Eyes meets Coldplay, Chase Pagan is an amazing musician I just discovered this week.......He's really one of those artist that you have to decide that you like on your own...you can listen to him here - - - - - - - - -> http://www.hxcmp3.com/bands/3650/

Albert React (http://www.albertreact.com) - Is an incredible band that remind me a lot of Thursday, but maybe even beter vocals. If you haven't heard their cd Confluence And Scrapes or them at all you missing out. Im pretty sure you can get some of their stuff at - - - - - - - - -> http://www.albertreact.com

and of course...........

Letter Twelve (http://www.lettertwelve.com) - What more can I say then huge.........I went to their show last night and they just ignited the stage with their presence, their was about twice as many people as their hever have been at the Red Blood Club before for a show too..........I got the demo too (eventhough I had all the songs on it but 1) its really amazing......the song I didn't have (The Antecedent Me) Travis sings like you've never heard before its just amazing plus its got some piano (and even a little like heavy techno bass stuff)..........Im going to rip it later, so in a little bit hit me up on AIM if you want to hear it........

Thank you for reminding me I still have the ability to think freely about music...
Im kind of bad at finding sarcasm or not........but if you were mocking me or something then you are retarted.......I know that everyone has the choice to like or not like any artist ever and that will ever be, but im just saying that he might be kind of a shaky artist that some people may not like as much as others do.......so im not going to tell you he's your new favorite artist or anything like that.....

NICE, very nice pics.....

What Ive Been Listening To Recently:

As Cities Burn-Great band that has been touring non-stop and deserves attention. For fans of any melodic hardcore. Maybe closest resemblence is old Boys Night Out but thats just throwing out a name. Go to hxcmp3.com and do yourself a favor with these guys.

Jenoah-I cant really figure out what I think of these guys, I love some of the songs and dont like some of them. Overall go get the EP from Drive-Thru, its worth a listen every now and then.

Zao-Just purchased Legendary which made me realize how this band has become legends, most people around here probably dont like Zao but they are a great band and if you are looking for something to pound the shit out of you but still have a good message, listen to Zao.

No Knife-Phonomenal. All their stuff is seriously soothing. There are guitar parts on Riot For Romance that blow me away. They also execute great vocals with outstanding lyrics, hmm making me think about it I want to listen to them some more.

Darkest Hour-In the words of Dustin Kensrue, "They do Sweedish Metal better than anyone in Sweeden". Its true, this is American metal and hardcore meeting at its finest. You owe it to yourself to hear these guys if you havent.

Check These picks out

Sparta (Wiretap Scars) - This is one of the greatest bands out right now. This album was awesome. I will actually defend that these guys are better than At The Drive In, they have such an awesome sound. I can't wait for the new album to drop this year. They are such a great band. www.spartamusic.com

Monday in London (The Big red Machine) - These guys are awesome. The vocals are crazy and they have talent. Check em. www.mondayinlondon.com

Mesawest (demos) - These guys are freaking amazing Everyone should go check them out. Seriously Go take a listen, and they are playing a show with Fire When Ready (the band that Nick from the junior varsity picked.) Everyone either go to this bands show (because they have an awesome live show) or buy their cd online when it comes out.

The Juliana Theory (Demo) - I love that new song(My heart is a soldier) it is sooo awesome. I just want to see how the next album will turn out like. This is an album to anticipate for in the coming year. www.thejulianatheory.com

Off The Record (Nothing New) - This is such a great release for this band. They have such talent and we are going to see what is going to happen to these guys in this coming year. They will blow you away. They mix these you did not even know possible (metal/pop/punk). But melodic punk is their main influence. They just were on the Purevolume freont page .

Ok, here is a band that is just flat out amazing. Practically no one knows who they are, which is really sad. They are probably the best darn ground breaking pop punk band you haven't heard yet. So with that being said, I give you........Teenage Heartthrob.

I reccomend you listen to

1. The Postal Service - Ben has done it again, Death Cab For cutie meets a techno machine, but with no techno music. Yes im confused as well just listen to them

2. The Fall of Troy - You people need to hear these guys. There sound is super hard to describe. They cause chaos like the blood brothers, except with a little but more structure if that makes any sense. And they have some awesome guitar parts. http://thefalloftroy.com/

3. The Good Life - these guys are super under rated

4. The Locust - they bring more chaos then the blood brothers, yes my friends that is possible. Qoute from one of the band members "I dont know if we are making music, or destroying it"

5. Copeland - everyone needs to lsiten to this band. They make beautiful music.

6. Underoath - the new album will rock

since we are on the PARK talk.....they played their hearts out at chain reaction on wednesday to about 40 kids who actually stayed after Jenoah played. this disturbed me that no one cared to even see any of the 4 other bands playing that night...[prolly b/c they're not signed to drive thru]....its crap that the place cleared out after Jenoah. PARK put on an amazing show.....and to the kids who stayed, props for rocking out to dear sweet impaler

Park - We play with these guys more than most of you kids wash your girl jeans.

Ha.

Anyway...

The Lido Venice (http://www.honeypump.net/thelidovenice) - They'll be changing their name soon, but I hope to G-d they don't change their sound at all. AMAZING live show, equally amazing sound. The Saddle Creek-influenced outfit uses a huge stand-up bass, keyboards, and two extra bass drums. Think of Mewithoutyou's intensity and mix it with Cursive's experimentativeness [actual word?]. These guys are going to be huge, I can feel it now.

No Trigger (http://www.notrigger.org) - Really nice guys, great live show. Melodic hardcore in the vein of Strike Anywhere.

Trophy Scars (http://www.trophyscars.com) - Well slap me down bottom and call me Charlie, AP is right. Amazing. Blood Brothers/Bright Eyes hybrid...I don't know, just go.
