After spending the weekend in LA again, I got to listen to many tunes on my ipod and I had a blast. I actually met Kelly Osborne, haha, that was pretty cool. I enjoy LA. I enjoy recommending music as well, so please, if you've got the time, check these bands (by the way, my computer is being ridiculously slow, so there's no links, sorry, i'll just write the bands links out) out:

Blur - I know everyone remembers "Song #2", and that song is a rockin' tune, but Blur is much more than that. They're one of the best indie rock bands out there, I think. They've been doing the indie rock thing since before it was cool. Some of their songs are really, really addicting so be careful.
Suggested records: "Parklife" and "The Best of Blur"

Overground - This band features Zack Hexum (Nick Hexum from 311's little brother) on vocals and sax, and this music is really, really great. It's like jazz meets drum and bass. The drummer in this band is fantastic and definitely makes the songs much more interesting, and the jazz touch in it is really nice. I've always been a fan of well done jazz with vocals. Zack Hexum also has a very soothing voice.
Suggested record: "What Happens Now?"

Counterfit - I went to see these guys again last weekend, and it was great. These guys never cease to amaze me at their tightness and great music. If you're into emo, or whatever you want to call it, this is the best emo band playing music today, in my opinion. I hate the term emo, though. Great harmonies and melodies along with intricit parts make this band really great.
Suggested records: Both! "From Finish to Starting Line" and "Super Amusement Machine for My Exciting Heart"

Sole - Sole is an angry, angry man. He writes intelligent lyrics and raps them with such meaning. I know there are a lot of Sole haters, but whatever, I like him. I'll also be the first to admit that everything he touches doesn't turn to gold, he has some crappy material. But his real life records are really, really good, and his live show is really good too. If you're looking for a political and angry lyricist/poet, this is your man.
Suggest records: "Selling Live Water" and "Bottle of Humans"

Natt - Unfortunately, this band broke up this year (which is a trend that happens to bands I like a lot...ugh), but their music still does it for me everytime I listen to it. The singer sounds quite a bit like Mike Patton, and anyone who knows me knows that I love Mike Patton. The music can be described as funky hard rock, I suppose. Kind of Incubus-ish, but way better, in my opinion.
Suggested record: "Hey Angel" ...
no link, hit me up on the AIM for some

that's all for me

Check These picks out

Sparta (Wiretap Scars) - This is one of the greatest bands out right now. This album was awesome. I will actually defend that these guys are better than At The Drive In, they have such an awesome sound. I can't wait for the new album to drop this year. They are such a great band. www.spartamusic.com

Monday in London (The Big red Machine) - These guys are awesome. The vocals are crazy and they have talent. Check em. www.mondayinlondon.com

Mesawest (demos) - These guys are freaking amazing Everyone should go check them out. Seriously Go take a listen, and they are playing a show with Fire When Ready (the band that Nick from the junior varsity picked.) Everyone either go to this bands show (because they have an awesome live show) or buy their cd online when it comes out.

The Juliana Theory (Demo) - I love that new song(My heart is a soldier) it is sooo awesome. I just want to see how the next album will turn out like. This is an album to anticipate for in the coming year. www.thejulianatheory.com

Off The Record (Nothing New) - This is such a great release for this band. They have such talent and we are going to see what is going to happen to these guys in this coming year. They will blow you away. They mix these you did not even know possible (metal/pop/punk). But melodic punk is their main influence. They just were on the Purevolume freont page .
