Ok so here's the deal. I've worked 3 shifts since yesterday and squeezed in 4 hours of sleep so my recommendations will be up to par but my reasoning for them might not. Let's see what I can muster up for you, k?
Silhouette (http://www.breakermusic.net/sil/01-Silhouette-Cosa_Nostra.mp3) - Ok, check out this frickin band. If you only ever check out one band that I recommend, make this the one. I'm picking up a strong Thrice influence, but their vocals are much more like Matchbook Romance's. So imagine a cross between the 2 bands and you have Silhouette. I even made it easy. Just click the link cause it's an mp3 for their song, "Cosa Nostra".
Autopilot Off (http://www.autopilotoff.com) - I have been head over heals to hear this new record of theirs since I heard that track, Clockworks, (I think?) on SSX3 for psx2. Totally a great song, and I imagine this band being some big stuff this summer once the record is released.
Monday In London (http://www.purevolume.com/mondayinlondon) - Their label sent me their recent full length this past week, and I did a review of it in our review section, so check that out. Their sound is pretty unique if you ask me. Something like a screamo band, but not at all like your typical bandwagon screamo band that we see so much of these days.
Category Five (http://www.purevolume.com/categoryfive) - I got their demo this past week in the mail and it's pretty tight. They boast a radio-ready pop punk type sound. Right now they are on something of a hiatus seeing as how they are spread across colleges and stuff, but expect some summer touring and stuff.
Go Mordecai (http://www.purevolume.com/gomordecai) - Cool name, first of all. But it's also a new band from the ashes of Larger Than Life (which was one of the first bands I discovered and fell in love with thanks to good ol absolutepunk.net years ago). Jon and Devin jumped ship to this band and the result is incredible. I'd keep big eyes out for this band to make some kind of break in the scene sooner or later.
By the way, I have a new found addiction for "Hey" by The Movielife. Odd since I've known the song for like a year and I just fell in love with it now. Speaking of which, I miss these guys big time. I almost cry watching the video for Face Or Kneecaps.
