I searched and couldn't believe that there wasn't an official thread for this band.

Thoughts on the new album? anything offspring related belongs here.

the new album is awesome in my opinion, not one stupid joke song that makes you go.."oh god not again!" *Skip*

the last two albums were good..i still think conspiracy has some classic offspring tracks on, i also think splinter has some good songs..the new album is definitely a step in the right direction

don't talk by the others

i love them....one of my favourite bands ever

Deep inside your soul there's a hole you don't wanna see....love this lyrics:-D

the new cd has some great songs:

hammerhead
you're gonna go far kid (the best from this record)

but nothingtown and half-truism are awful

You're gonna go far kid should be the next single, most people's favorite of the new album.

I gave it a few listens when it came out, didn't think too much of it.

The remastered versions of Smash/Ignition any good?

I loved the Offspring's 90's material, especially Americana, one of the first CD's I remember buying myself in a store. Conspiracy of One, not so much. I still have to give the new album a listen and going by what people are saying about it I should do that soon rather than later.

i finally got to listen through and through the new album finally (as i actually bought it), after only hearing a few tracks at a time....and i REALLY REALLY like the CD. Their are a few songs that make you scratch your head, "kristy are you doing okay" wasnt really one of my favorites... and a few others were sorta mediocre.

But there were also many songs that I would definitley add to the LARGE Offspring best of...repitoire (sorry spelling).
- Half Truism....GREAT OPENER! Classic driving in your car fast song....love it.
- Trust in you.... CONTINUES to bring it quick and fast. The first 2 songs sound like lost tracks from their older albums....they're great.
- you're gonna go far kid... this is clearly the stand out track from the CD. it's different then their other stuff, but the chorus delivers a nice offspring punch.
- nothingtown- a very fun track from the offspring. its a "she's got issues" kind of song...but not as corny as their radio songs of americana.
- stuff is messed up - a pretty corny written song, but something about it makes it really catchy...and i can definitley seeing me like this song more and more, as i continue to listen
- lets hear it for rock bottom - one of my favorite songs on the CD, as they introduce a little OC ska 'chords' to the album....with their own little catchy chorus to boot. great song
- rise and fall - a nice ender to the album....a very happy offspring song, but it concludes a very satisfying album

once again ill admit the slow songs of the album are extremely weak and VERY lame....probably because its not something im looking for from the offspring (they really just arent good). but when you have a band thats been around as long as theese guys have...and they CONTINUE to put out great fun/fast music....an album with 6 solid songs is really all im looking for.

I HOPE THEY TOUR SOON...if they know any information about an upcoming tour id greatly apprecaite it

I guess I'm in the minority by saying that I thought that Conspiracy of One was their second strongest release (behind Smash, of course). Although, that might be sentimental value speaking because that album introduced me to the band and was one of the first albums I can remember buying for myself.

Nope, it was Japan I think. And it was one of the Nimrod or Warning tours if memory serves. But I could be wrong.

Sum-41 is really fun live, don't get me wrong there! Haha. For me, personally, I just like them less than Street Dogs and Alkaline Trio.

...And I've never seen the Trio play those songs, either. In fact they don't play much off of From Here to Infirmary these days. Kind of a sad thought. Haha. They tend to play either very new or very old stuff, never any of the in-between stuff.

I hate how much shit this band gets.

Fact is, they're a solid punk rock band that is responsible for the highest selling independent album of all time and opened many doors for bands featured on this site. Yeah, so they wrote a few singles that would be considered "corny", but that's no different to Fall Out Boy, Blink-182, or whatever band is currently on the MTV/teen hit list.

Well. Consider me shocked. Haha. That's really interesting that they've never had a hit over there! Never would have thought. I assumed they were relatively big worldwide. What were the top three YouTube choices? Other than "Love Song," I mean.

Well, love song was top, then you had Amber, and Beautiful Disaster. I've now gone to the 4th choice, 'Down', and that doesn't register with me either.

Wonder if that means they will have finished recording by then. It would be nice to have something by fall instead of 2015.They said they will take a break from the studio to do this tour, then go finish up the album. That really kinda sucks, but I'm more than happy to see Offspring again. These guys have done so much for a lot of bands, but people give them all kinds of shit because of some of the singles they put out. I personally don't like a lot of their singles, but continue to buy their albums because the songs that don't hit the radio are amazing. Conspiracy Of One is the best song they've ever written, IMO.

And I, too, am SHOCKED that 311 isn't big in England.

So, I know this isn't the bro-down thread but...Just did some research. The last time 311 played in the U.K. was apparently 2002. And that was a very, very brief tour. Like, maybe five venues? Jesus...I don't know why I'm so surprised by this. Haha. They've never even played Reading & Leeds! Learn something new every day.

I kind of wish they'd do a big club tour instead of the hockey/mid-level arenas and such. I feel like those shows would be more fun--they would inevitably sell them out (as opposed to a half-filled theater) and it would simultaneously weed out some of the Slipknot shirts. Haha.

To be pleasant to me everything that Noodls with Dexter do, even that they did that from the very beginning.

New Japanese compilation album with b-sides, live shit, and remixes. (http://www.amazon.com/Happy-Hour-Ltd-Ed-Offspring/dp/B003NHX50O) Pretty rad! But a bit bummed that they left off "One Hundred Punks." Personally, that's my favorite Offspring cover.

That being said? The Black Dahlia remix of "Want You Bad" rules hard.

As much as I didn't prefer Splinter over most of their albums, "Spare Me The Details" is one of my all time favorite songs by them. It's just a great, catchy pop tune. Not sure why it stands out to me so much, it just found me at the right time. I used to have that song rotating on every mix CD or playlist I had.

And nice attempt of trying to steal the Paperback Writer riff (and then mix it with Foo Fighters Times Like These)

The fucking Offspring released a fucking joke song as a single for Austrialia

Seriously before I post the link, I must warn you that it is a joke song.

A fucking song called, "Cruising California (Bumpin' In My Trunk)"

Yes, use your imagination before you click the link.

http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/music/news/blog/listen-the-offsprings-new-song-days-go-by/20120430-g71h.html

Now, I personally was laughing through out the entire song because this does not sound like a Offspring song at all. Not a chance in hell (okay, maybe the reference to PF(FAWG). But still!)

The sad thing is, I can see this blowing up in America's pop charts -_-

Let the shitstorm commence!

Edit: This (joke) song ruined any chance I had at defending this album (If I could have in the first place...).

This is not even funny anymore. And it's not even going to be the hidden track but actually track #6 in the middle of the album!

They did that with "Spare Me the Details", and it did well in Australia, so why not another one?

While that song is pretty terrible as far as the lyrics go, it doesn't sound like an actual "joke" song so much as just...Bad. Haha. And cheeseball. That being said? It could definitely be a hit here in the States. And is already stuck in my head.

But just to prove your point wrong about the "joke" songs (or, as I'm loosely defining it here--songs with a silly/sarcastic lyrics, even if the subject matter is realtively serious)...

Smash
Bad Habit

Ixnay on the Hombre
Mota
Cool to Hate
Intermission
Don't Pick It Up

Americana
Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
Feelings
She's Got Issues
Why Don't You Get a Job?

Conspiracy of One
Original Prankster
One Fine Day

Splinter
Hit That
The Worst Hangover Ever
Spare Me the Details

The last album was shockingly devoid of such a track. But yeah...This new song doesn't shock me at all. I'm guessing there was some label pressure for a hit, and they may well have found it. It's definitely far more embarrassing than any other song I've listed, though. Hah.

Really? Do labels pressure bands in that way now? I doubt it. They're hardly a new band who have to create a fanbase. It's The Offspring - the label can predict how many copies they will sell at the very least simply because it has "The Offspring" written on the cover! There's probably no pressure on them at all to do anything.

I think if this is the direction they're taking themselves, then it's the band themselves that have made this decision, not the record label. And what a bad decision it is...

Yeah, I was wrong. Labels never tell bands what to write, record, release, etc.
