View Full Version : Shout It Loud 2008-Less than Jake/Goldfinger
Tour started on the 17th, im hitting it up on the 26th. Last year they had a crazy variable setlist, wonder what they are doing this year. Curious what LTJ and GF are playing.

Yeah; At bamboozle this was a quote of theirs "You guys wanna hear a new song?? (not big reaction from audience) Well we know you don't! Here's a song we know you wanted to hear(proceed to play science of selling yourself short)"
just-in.

does anyone have a Goldfinger setlist?

also was this an actual written out setlist that or did somebody tell you this? when i saw them last month, they skipped a few songs on the actual written setlist and they only planned for two songs during their encore and they ended up playing five, so i'm just curious

Good setlist. Hope they keep up with the variety.
They've played the exact same setlist so far. It's the one posted here plus Great American Sharpshooter and How's My Driving, Doug Hastings? Actually I think someone told me last night that they switched one song out for Suburban Myth in Ft. Lauderdale but yeah. That list is also very out of order.

GOOD i truly cannot deal with a less than jake show sans 'how's my driving'. it came on in the car today and i was about to die because i didn't remember seeing it on the setlist. i also hope suburban myth isn't just a florida thing because that's one of my favorite songs and i really, really want them to play it

yeah, i'm seeing them 26th too. Roseland is a great venue.
who exactly is playing this show? LTJ, Goldfinger, suburban legends and westbound train? is that it? because i've seen things where it saying Big D and the Kids Table, not westbound train...

LTJ, Goldfinger, Suburban Legends, Westbound Train is the lineup. Big D doesn't join the tour until July 1st.
the set list in atlanta last night was pretty much the same as the set list posted from the first night, i'll try to list what they did and didn't play from that list:
the didn't play: dopeman
other songs they did play: jen doesn't like me anymore, brightest bulb/screws fall out, great american sharpshooter
so i guess atlanta got a longer set list, which is good. oh and they are selling the new cd at the shows already...
i also don't remember them playing sugar in your gas tank, but i think they did. i was thinking it was a different song off losing streak, but i guess i was wrong...
i guess i'm dissapointed that they have a somewhat strict set list their playing, becuase last year when they where playing it seems a ton of different songs every night they didn't come to atlanta...and it doesn't look like they're playing anything pre-1996 (except johnny and jen, but those don't count)
i also went to the acoustic instore before the show and they played:
suburban myth
conviction notice
malachi richters liquors quicker
soundtrack of my life
hows my driving
al's war
Is that instore setlist in order? It's similar to the one Orlando had except we had Help Save the Youth of America From Exploding and Great American Sharpshooter by request

LTJ usually do that
in 2006 ltj only incorporated like 3 new songs in their set for that tour
i guess thats pretty cool though
the fans prolly enjoy that quite a bit

the reason there is such a small amount from their new album is because they think that the fans will be able to sing along to, and enjoy more, song they already know, even though their new album is AMAZING

the Goldfinger setlist has all of my favorites, but I really do like Free Kevin Kjonas, and I'm surprised to not see it on there, after all the hype it had when they first released the song
and question, is this a LTJ headline, or is it co-headlining? because last year it was co, and on my date LTJ played before Reel Big Fish
just got back from roseland show; my review:
1.suburban legends.....sucked. I didn't know any of their music, but they were really flamboyant and just felt like a shitty disney band.
2. Westbound Train was OK, but too "jammy". I also know none of their music, but it just felt like they were playing 1 long song over and over again.
3. Goldfinger was awesome. played all the greats and only 1 new song
probobly out of order

I was there last night too... my opinion on suburban legends is this. The music they played was danceable and fun, but the fact that they had choreography...that was annoying and bothered me. If I wanted to see NSync, I'd kill myself first.
Westbound Train was cool. I really liked their set. It was a nice relaxing little ditty but still able to dance to. I'm with you Chiodos, I didn't know the 2 openers songs either, but I'm definatly going to check out westbound more. I liked them.
Goldfinger, shit got a crazy. People got really testy during this set and my friend almost got into a fight because...we were skanking, someone thought we were moshing, we clearly werent and...yeah, insanity insued. During the Goldfinger set, it turned into a punk concert, which, as much as i like the music, I dislike the concerts. I don't like moshing and all that shit so, it wasnt that fun. It was utterly disgusting with the twinke, i'm pretty sure I'll never eat one again. But, above all that, the music was good, it didn't sound thaaat good, quality wise, but its a concert, what can be expected.
Less than Jake. I personally thought this was amazing. My only problem with this was that I didnt get to dance as much as I felt inclined to. Because, the center pit was too chaotic for my enjoyment and the back pit that we set up [me and my friends] was basically nothing. The music was good. I'm thoroughly blown away by Less Then Jake on stage. Their stage presence is so good. The set was good. Really liked it. Some of the people i was with said that they didn't like the way it sounded, that the guitar volume was too high, which at times i agree, but it wasnt that bad.
Overall it was a good concert. Not the best I've been to. That, above all, goes to Dan P, Zox, and Streetlight Manifesto back in May. But it wasn't bad. My only complaint is that if people go to a ska concert, skank circles need to be made. If you get pushed in the creation of one, you can't act all suprised and start moshing in anger. Secondly, I don't care if people smoke weed or drink beer at a concert, do what you want, I just hate it [mostly the second of the two] while your on the floor. Because the people with drinks are standing in the way of those dancing around them. And then if they do get pushed, the beer spills onto people and thats unpleasant. Also, it makes the floor sticky and disgusting.
Out of all the sets and performances last night, the ranking goes
1. Less than Jake - 4/5
2. Westbound train - 4/5
3. Goldfinger - 3/5
4. Suburban Legends - 2.5/5
Anyone know when the next big ska tour is coming around?

If LTJ's and Goldfinger's sets are like the one's posted so far then I will be very pleased by the end of the show tonight.
im hoping gfinger plays chris cayton and anxiety tonight in provi... thatd make me very happy
I was at the providence show last night... suburban and westbound were both great and the crowd really loved them - it's been a while since i found new bands i liked because they opened for someone, but i'm happy. less than jake played third and the crowd was really into it, i don't recall their setlist, but it was quite similar to the other posts so far. goldfinger played last and i've never seen them all so happy in my life. you could tell they were loving being on stage again. crazy crowd like the old days.
setlist:

did anyone go to the Stone Pony show?
i wish i did, but i was only able to go to the instore at vintage vinyl. and i missed the beginning (i think the first half of the first song) because vintage vinyl decided to not have the line for the instore behind the store unlike what they usually do. i'd also like to know how the stone pony show went.

I was at the pony show. Same sets pretty much as the other ones up here, with LTJ in the headlining spot. And Darren ate a twinkie out of another dudes ass to switch it up. Show was pretty much the bomb.

Yesterday was the Philly stop of the Shout It Loud Tour which was combined into the last day of School of Rock Fest 2008.
We arrived at Festival Pier around 1 not knowing when the main bands would start to play. The Suburban Legends wern't scheduled to go on until 3 so we wondered around for a couple of hours. It was interesting to see all these different School of Rock's from across the country and the kid who were playing in them. Over the span of two hours we managed to catch bands covering songs from Van Halen, U2, Guns and Roses, Rage Against the Machine, Black Sabbath, and Beastie Boys. This was for sure an interesting way to start off the day.
We watched Suburban Legends and Westbound Train but I am not familiar with their music (with the exception of Surburban Legends covering the song from Lion King) so I couldn't provide a set list, sorry.
As for the rest of the show, Goldfinger came out next to one of the prank phone calls from their self-titled album. They played for about 45 minutes and here is a set list somewhat in order.
Counting the Days
Chris Cayton
Superman
Get Up
Superman
Here in Your Bedroom
My Girlfriends Shower Sucks
Mable
Open Your Eyes
Miles Away
99 Red Balloons
Also, during Miles Away, John's family and friends came out and gave him a few pies to the face and silly stringed him for his birthday.
Less Than Jake was up next and played for about an hour, the set seemed about the same as was has been posted here already but here is their set list somewhat in order.
Does the Lion City Still Roar?
Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sell Outs
All My Best Friends Are Metalheads
History of a Boring Town
How's My Driving Doug Hastings?
Sugar in Your Gas Tank
Look What Happened
Ghosts of You and Me
The Science of Selling Yourself Short
The Rest of My Life
Summon Monsters
Conviction Notice
Gainsville Rock City
Plastic Cup Politics
At the beginning of the set I heard the train whistle for "Last Train out of Liberty City" but I can't remember if they actually played it during the set or not. "Krazy Glue" was also on the set list but wasn't played. Also before playing The Science of Selling Yourself Short" they played the Dirty Rat game which entailed one guy from the audience being blindfolded and deciding which one of the three contestents had the dirtiest/worst smelling armpit.
Dropkick Muprhys were up last on the bill. We watched them play for about 30 minutes then headed out after seeing them last summer and being exhausted but here is what we saw them play.
Intro/For Boston
Famous For Nothing
The State of Massachusetts
Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya
Also as a sidenote, does anybody know what the song is that the Dropkick Murphys put on before they come out? It's some kind of tradiational Irish song. If anybody could tell me that would great.

westbound about 30
goldfinger played about 50

Anybody got anymore setlists? What about Big D's setlist, I can't wait to see them
Brandon Allin

I just got back from the Toronto stop on this tour, and I had a great time. I sung "Mable" on stage with Goldfinger, saw Less Than Jake play acoustic in a record store downtown beforehand, and hung out with the bands backstage. To sum it all up, a lot of bands, a lot of booze, and a lot of chaos.
I can't quote Big D's set list in its entirety, but they sounded great, and had a lot of energy on stage. I can tell you for sure that in Toronto they played Noise Complaint, Steady Riot, My Girlfriend's on Drugs, Little Bitch, and some others. No need to worry, the set list was great.
Less Than Jake (highlights included "All My Best Friends are Metalheads," "Summon Monsters," "Last One Out of Liberty City," "Plastic Cup Politics," and "The Science of Selling Yourself Short") were a blast as always, and fuck, do Goldfinger (highlights included "Mable," "Superman," "Get Up," "Here in Your Bedroom," and "San Simeon") know how to put on a show or what? I haven't sat down and listened to a Goldfinger record in years (with the exception of Hello Destiny), but these guys have still got it.
Suburban Legends were fairly good. If you take their set with a grain of salt, and don't cross your arms and sulk like a little bitch, you'll have a good time. Yes, they're poppy, and for those calling them "a shitty Disney band," you're right on the money, considering they spent the beginnings of their careers performing at Disney World in California. If you didn't like what you heard or had a problem with what you saw, say so, but there's no need to cut up a bunch of hardworking dudes who are just out there to have fun.
The bottom line is if your wallet isn't empty, and this tour stops near you, do yourself a favor and go.

I was at the Omaha, NE show a little while ago, Suburban Legends was not so great, but they opened with "High Fives" and closed with "Bright Spring Morning". I don't know what the songs they played between those were, but I didn't really care.
Goldfinger and Less Than Jake's set list is pretty much identical to set list shown before. Big D's setlist is as follows, though not in order.
Souped-Up Vinyl
Cutshow
Hell On Earth
My Girlfriend's On Drugs
Noise Complaint
Shining On
Steady Riot
Some really slow song about heroin

The set list for poughkeepsie (where they did the live internet recording) wasn't too different
Does the Lion City Still Roar?
Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sell Outs
All My Best Friends Are Metalheads
History of a Boring Town
How's My Driving Doug Hastings?
Sugar in Your Gas Tank
Look What Happened
Ghosts of You and Me
The Science of Selling Yourself Short
The Rest of My Life
Summon Monsters
Conviction Notice
Krazy Glue
Great American Sharpshooter
Last One Out of Liberty City
Automatic
Al's War
They played all of these, not exactly in that order, although i know they opened with Lion City (obviously) and closed with Liberty City before doing Dopeman, Gainesville Rock City, and Plastic Cup Politics for the encore.
I think it goes without saying that this was an awesome show. We tried to get a chant of Scott Farcas.. but they didn't seem to listen, ha. If I missed any songs, anyone who saw the show online or live feel free to add on but i def. know they played all of those songs.
Big D was okay. I wasn't impressed with their set list
Souped Up Vinyl
Noise Complaint
Strictly Rude
Hell On Earth
Shining On
LAX
My Girlfriend's On Drugs
and I wanna say Murder for the Money by Morphine.. but I'm not positive.
Steady Riot
once again they were not in that order but they opened with Souped Up Vinyl and closed with Steady Riot. I wish they had played more off how it goes and good luck. people were shouting "checklist"
Bomb The Music Industry was great too, some people didn't really like them, but I think Jeff Rosenstock is one hell of a guy.
They played:
Even Winning Feels Bad
25 Hour Goddamn Telethon
I'm A Panic Bomb, Baby!
Syke! Life is Awesome
Congratulations, John, On Joining Every Time I Die
My Response to an Article in the Alternative Press
Blow Your Brains Out on Live TV!!!
I Don't Love You Anymore
Saddr Weirdr
I ran into Jeff during Big D's set in the balcony, and he was an extremely cool guy. Very contrary to the angry sounding Jeff we hear on BTMI recordings.
Suburban Legends:
High Fives
Hey DJ
Under The Sea (yes. I'm not kidding.)
That Girl's Got What I Want
Bright Spring Morning
that actually might've been all they played. They didn't play Come Back Home which really depressed me, but I really came to see LTJ anyhow.

I ran into Jeff during Big D's set in the balcony, and he was an extremely cool guy. Very contrary to the angry sounding Jeff we hear on BTMI recordings.
Suburban Legends:
High Fives
Hey DJ
Under The Sea (yes. I'm not kidding.)
That Girl's Got What I Want
Bright Spring Morning
that actually might've been all they played. They didn't play Come Back Home which really depressed me, but I really came to see LTJ anyhow.

Big D/BTMI/LTJ is one of the sickest lineups I've ever seen. Jealous.
And we tried the same thing with Scott Farcas. Everyone I talk to has seen it live, and I'm 0/8, shitty.

I just realized i made a few mistakes. Big D closed with Little Bitch, not Steady Riot. and BTMI! did not play 25 hour goddamn telethon, i was confusing it with Unlimited Breadsticks, Soup and Salad Days. And yea it sucks that everyone else has seemed to have seen Scott Farcas. = / maybe next time

So what happened to Goldfinger? Did I miss something, because I know they missed the first week but I thought they were supposed to join on for the rest of it.

They just played it in Montreal during the encore but not last night in Jacksonville. Hopefully they finally change the setlist by the time they reach the UK.

They didn't play it in New Port Richey last night. In fact, they didn't play a single song from "In With the Out Crowd."

i know not many people are great fans of In With The Out Crowd, but how come LTJ dont play any songs of that record live anymore? i noticed that the setlist at the top of this page has Rest of my Life on it, but it hasent been played hardly at all after that. I think its a great song and i really hoped they would play it in Birmingham 2 nights ago, also, overrated is good too

They've also played "P.S. Shock the World" quite a bit since IWTOC was released. Don't know why they're not playing any of those songs, though. Probably just coincidence.

Actually it did slightly and some songs are being rotated in and out.
