Alex is out, Pete is in. Read the message from Yellowcard here (http://www.yellowcardrock.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=generalyc;action=dis play;num=1078168903;start=0).

okay... so Pete was an original band member, and then he left... that's when alex came into play. THEN.... pete wanted to come back so alex was kicked out????
i was just a little confused when i read it so somebody spell it out pretty simply for me please!

warren was the original bassist, who quit the band during warped tour 02
pete began to fill in, work with the band, write ocean avenue with them.
Pete said he had trouble at home, so after he recorded ocean avenue, he bounced.
Alex came in and picked up all the knowledge and played with the band to this point
Pete has sorted all his shit out and asked for a second chance in YC
YC gave it to him
Basically bye bye Alex, and hello again Pete
I'm really not sure how to feel at this point, being a huge fan of YC for over 2 years now, I've seen em with each different bassist, through the ups, and through the downs. You can't help but wonder what factored into Pete's decision to come back, YC's decision to take him back, and YC's decision to send Alex packing. Some people are saying it's because of the recent success YC has been seeing.
But, even though all of this is happening, and a member is being "kicked out" (which is one of the hardest decisions to make in a band, having experienced doing so), I must stand behind one of my favorite bands and support them. I hope and pray that this was not a bitter ending between YC and Alex, and I hope Alex pursues something with another band.
Thoughts?

sounds like someone saw the success yellowcard was having and wanted back in, i think its fucked cause Alex worked just as hard with that band and to get tossed out like that is a shitty way to go. That's not how a band works.

wow. 1 of two things: pete really wants or a second chance, or 2 (i am leaning towards this) he saw how they were about to blow the hell up and wnated back in. if i was alex i would be a very pissed off man

It has nothing to do with their success. Pete recorded with them, so they obviously were already signed with Capitol at that point. And when he left Yellowcard, it was because he was being loyal to his first band Inspection 12, who he's been with for 9 years. Pete asked Yellowcard for a second chance not long after he left them. This decision they've been fighting with themselves for a long time, and they finally decided. So don't say its because of the money or the fame.

say what ever you want its still fucked up, he left, you don't just kick someone out to replace them for no reason

Not every band that gets signed to a major has instant success. But YC did and well all of a sudden Pete is back. Pretty interesting if you ask me.

Yeah totally. Major respect lost from me. I wonder how the rest of their fans will react to this. I mean the ones who've followed the band and know the members. Not the 12 year old girls who think Ryan is cute and like Yellowcard because they heard "Only One".

I agree with you that it wasn't for money. But Yellowcard got signed to Capitol way before Pete was in the band. They had been signed for months before Warren left.
