Reeve Oliver - Touchtone Inferno!!!
Record Label: Summertone/Apple Danish Record
Release Date: December 3, 2007
Who Is It?
Reeve Oliver, a San Diego pop-rock outfit offering up a new album and a time machine. Touchtone Inferno!!! is cozy with memories of my teen years, fondly paralleled by "Flavor of the Week" by American Hi-Fi. It's a solace from these self-righteous, mind-fucking indie bands I've been spinning as of late; singer and lyricist Sean O'Donnell is enormously down-to-earth. The album had nearly zero retail promotion, and was originally release via iTunes. Pair that with it's early 2000's pop enthusiasm, and it's more than ready to go under-appreciated.
How Is It?
Whatevs. Touchtone Inferno!!! is solid on both production and structure. "Yer Motion" has been re-recorded, but the album is fresh in energy. The actual content - the melodies, hooks and so on - are fun, but nothing you can't get from any of the RIYL's listed below. It's all about in the moment for Touchtone Inferno!!!, because seconds after a run-through, Reeve Oliver will slip in the dark abyss.
