Best new musician of this decade in my opinion. Absolutely solid singer/double bassist. Amazing vocals melodies and very smart progressions. All around great songwriter and performer.

Precious is a great song to listen to first if you have never heard her stuff.
Thoughts?

Chamber Music Society is pretty challenging, but really impressive, too. She's clearly gifted.

*after the Grammy New Artist of the Year upset*
Good call, you two. I'd never heard of her before but I was kind of amused by how her win ticked off millions of Bieber fans. I found her Wikipedia article interesting (jazz prodigy, played at Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, etc) and streamed the album on MySpace... I don't usually listen to Contemporary Jazz but she's definitely got talent. Not sure I'm into some of that high vocal warbling she does, but in general it sounds pretty good.
I read that the album had only sold 31,000 copies prior to the Grammys but that's sure to change (It was up to #6 on iTunes for some time)
Just now listening to Chamber Music Society. Shit is immensely good. I'm really liking "Wild is the Wind" and "Apple Blossom." Her vocal arrangements are also nuts when she starts scatting. Really glad I checked her out... better late than never.

One by one, they come. Lol.
Well, I can't help that I've never heard of her before the Grammy debacle. I'm signed up on Absolutejazz.net but there's no one on the forums there.

I've been looking for something like this for a while, and she's fantastic! I'm really glad I stumbled upon this thread.
