This week is a little different. I am dedicating this Sunday to the band which I personally think is the greatest rock band of all-time. People can give me shit for it, or people can agree. Either way, Oasis (http://www.oasisinet.com)' (What's The Story) Morning Glory? is one of the main reason's why I'm into music today (not to forget Blink 182's Cheshire Cat, 311's S/T, and the Dave Matthews Band's Crash). Oasis have written some of the most classic songs and though their latest record wasn't as good as the rest, they will still continue to blow everyone off their feet. They will continue to live on as one of the greatest UK bands of all-time. "I'm a rock n' roll star!" Oasis will always be better than your favorite band, and that's final.

...Dave Matthews Band? *shudder* does that mean you wear a white baseball cap and get drunk of heineken?

I would say Green Day got me into the scene... the first time I saw them was when I was like 9 watching Woodstock '94.

I haven't listened to that band in years, but dude, there is no denying that every member in that band is 100x more talented than any other band discussed on this site.

That's a pretty bold statement...why would you now listen to bands that have "1/100 th" the talent of dave matthews? So you're saying the drummer in dave has more talent than travis barker? Or better lyrics than brand new or tbs or bright eyes or anyone else discussed on this site? Just because a band's fanbase is enormous doesn't mean they have more talent than another band....they have talent, yes, but I'm wondering why you post on a site if you think another band is 100x more talented than any on this site. I'm sure the bands discussed here would love hearing that you think they don't even compare to dave after "supporting" them so much.

Kamtin, I can't agree with you more. I remember the Oasis cd being one of the first cds I ever bought, and I continue listening to it this day. Like you said none of Oasis' new stuff has lived up to Morning Glory, but they are always worth giving a listen to....and besides the Gallagher brothers are the definition of rock star.

Yes all the talent and asshole-ishness to boot. But seriously I love Oasis and even tho nothing will ever live up to Morning Glory, Be Here Now was a great album and Stop Crying Your Heart Out is a great song.

if you have heard one dave matthews song, you would know that their drummer blows every drummer discussed on this site out of the water. yes, he is better than barker. barker has even stated in interviews that he thinks carter beauford is an amazing percussionist. shut your fucking trap.

Ok so I admit that Dave is talented, but...well I'll just say it's not my cup of tea...as for them being better than people we discuss here, yeah that's probably true, but maybe not exponentially better. However I do give you props for not just straight up perpetuating the emo stereotype by expanding beyond just saying the same 4 bands every week on your picks.

i'll agree that a lot of the members in DMB are incredibly talented, but their elitist fans piss me right off and make me not want to like them. so there.

Massive amounts of talent does not a good band make.

All good bands. It is pretty lame that so many people hate Dave Matthews just because he has some strange fans. It's not fair to hate a band based on its fans.

nice pick. i love their song 'stop crying your heart out' and seeing the butterfly effect gave me a whole new respect for the song. i almost shed a tear when that song came to its biggest chorus at the end of the movie. it was such a beautifulmoment. wow this was a pretty emo post.

Great pick. Oasis is one of my favorite bands. A lot of people seem to overlook their first cd "Definately Maybe" though. That's a great cd, not as good as morning glory, but still real good. All of their other cds are really good in my opinion as well, even if they do rip off the Beatles.

Definitely Maybe is personally my favorite Oasis record and one of my favorite albums of all-time. I unfortunately didn't hear about the band till Whats The Story... came out.

weezer... will always be my favorite, and i guess they helped get me into this scene even if they are radically different (and better) than most of the bands on this site. i like your idea kamtin, props to you for recognizing your favorite band.

YES...finally another Oasis fan. I can guarentee than I'm the biggest Oasis fan on this site...and I think that Standing on the Shouler of Giants and Heathen Chemistry are both very good records. My favorite is Familiar to Millions, the LIVE album. All you should go out and buy that, you will LOVE it. The electric version of Wonderwall is worth the price alone. NEW OASIS ALBUM IN SEPTEMBER!!! Can't wait!!!

dave is a local virginia boy, and personally i've always hated him because of his annoying voice, even before the legions of frat dudes started worshiping his every move.

I hope you realise that definitely maybe is a much better listen start to finish than morning glory. If you dont believe me just ask Noel Gallagher.
To have rock n roll star, live forever and cigarettes and alcohol all on 1 album is just too fuckin good.

i love oasis and all the other bands you named. dave mathews is fucking great. the only thing that brings oasis down is the singer being such an asshole to other bands. it doesn't take away from the music, it just kinda makes a bad reflection on the band for me. awesome picks (or pick)

i could not agree more about oasis. morining glory was the first album i ever bought and it was because of them that i worship music as much as i do today. that album sure took a beating back in the day and it's got the scratches to prove it! and i also agree that definitaly maybe is a damn good album. glad to finally see other people giving them the respect they deserve. while i'm on the subject, i would also like to give my props to REM (although i will be the first to admit that their new stuff sucks). another damn good band and another reason why i am who i am...well i'm done now, peace out yo
