Hey...sorry I didn't post these yesterday, I was having computer malfunctions. But everything's A-Ok again. Here's my recommendations for the week.

Gruvis Malt - This is seriously a band that everyone should be listening too. They're too good to pass up. If you're a musician, listen to them with an open mind, listen to the music. Then go and try to learn it. When their new record drops, you'll never hear the end of it from me.
Suggested listening: "The Heart Transplant You Can Afford" (available for download on their site), and "Backout Smiling" EP, and "...With the Spirit of a Traffic Jam"

Josiah - This guy, is amazing. As a drummer, I am very partial to this guy. He's Why? from Anticon's brother, and he released his debut EP on Anticon. He's an amazing drummer, and honestly I don't think this record does him much justice. For the real deal, check out the Why? touring band, as he plays drums for that. Great indie-weirdness.
Suggested listening: the Josiah EP, Why?'s Live record

Buck65 - I've been listening to a WHOLE LOT of Buck this week. This guy is crazy, like for real. I listen to this guy and wonder what was going through his head when he wrote some of this stuff. It's put into that "indie-hop" genre, but I dunno that it really fits. It's got the hiphoppy beats at times, but the delivery of most of the lyrics is much more like Tom Waits than any MC I know. This guy is really worth a listen, he's really different.
Suggested listening: "Talkin' Honky Blues", "Synesthesia", and "Man Overboard".

Frank Sinatra - I know, that's pretty weird. There's just something about Frank that is very appealing. When I listen to Frank I am in a happy mood, almost at a different place. If you're ever feeling sad or "emo", listen to Frank and see if your sadness doesn't go away and your frown doesn't get turned upside down.
Suggested listening: Basically anything Frank has done!

And for the embarassing pick of the week:
Everclear - I dug these records out of the closet this last week, and I loved it. Don't diss it till you try it. "Sparkle and Fade" and "So Much For the Afterglow" were really important records to me growing up. Granted, they've kind of taken a turn for the worse lately, they still put out two classic records. Whatever you do, don't listen to any of the new stuff they put out, as it won't compare. Just the two records mentioned above. Don't tell me you didn't like "Santa Monica" when it came out.
Suggested listening: "Sparkle and Fade" and "So Much for the Afterglow".

That's all for me this week ... There's another band that I have been listening to a whole lot this week, but I can't quite reveal it yet. Look for me to start talking about them soon...maybe next week.
Thanks for checkin it out..
Joel

songs from an american movie part 1 were beautiful perhaps even better than so much for the afterflow, even though it is close, and then part 2 was kind of generic but it was a great follow up dont say only listen to those two records, even world of noise is good. however the newest one probably isnt even listenable according to the only single volvo driving soccer mom...yikes.

Somehow I think replying to this thread wasted at least as much time as reading it....

Sparkle and Fade is actually a good album, their best by far (at least out of the 3 I've heard).

Frank Sinatra was one hell of a manwhore, though.

ahhhhh i went to see Buck65 last week, and he was amazing, despite him having the worst day of his life. he was thoroughly entertaining, and id recommend going if you appreciate witty, intelligent, creative people.
