Yeah, that's right.
Although I wasn't old enough to remember (or even alive for the earlier stuff) anything that I would hear, it's still affected my life greatly.
In a school of about 800+ kids, it's hard to believe that my friend and I seem to be the only two people (let alone girls) to openly talk about feminism.
We are absolute feminists.
We put up empowering posters around the school, only to have them be torn down within a few hours.
When people brought it up, others would say "Feminism is so stupid! All it is is girls running around being angry at everything!", which pissed us off, mostly because it was GIRLS saying it!
Riot grrrl has inspired us greatly.
I believe that it's the female voice to the grunge movement.
Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, The Slits, Heavens to Betsy... the list goes on!
The powerful vocals, and the even more powerful message behind it is what blows me away.
What do you all think about this genre / movement?
