Anyone here from New Hampshire? I'm from Canada, and here we don't have very many CDs unless they're best sellers. I'm going to new hampshire, maine, and massachusetts very soon and I was wondering if anyone that lived in one of these states knew where the best store is to get CDs by bands like Four Year Strong, Secret and Whisper, Search the City, The Devil Wears Prada, Underminded?

Those are just some CDs I'm looking to buy. Most of them aren't available here or if they are, they're like 25 bucks because they're not very big around here. By checking availability online at Best Buy, it doesn't seem like any CDs that I want are in stock at the Best Buy stores in these three states.

Just looking for some info please.

Does FYE or Hot Topic have a lot of CDs in general? I went in Hot Topic a very long time ago and I don't recall them having a lot of CDs.

I'm from their next door neighbors...buying CD's shouldn't be hard anywhere in the US.

Okay, awesome.

www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/)

Shipping is expensive to Canada, but this site is always my last resort. Amazon.ca has CDs too, but at pretty high prices.

i'd go to Best Buy or Newbury Comics.

DON'T go to Wal Mart or FYE.

okay let me break it down for you man:

Bullmoose Music:

Salem, NH -good selection

Portsmouth, NH - better selection

Newbury Comics:

Salem, NH - good selection

Manchester, NH - better selection

Nashua, NH - best selection

other than that, there are Best Buy's everywhere for more mainstream stuff, but if you're looking for anything more than mildly indie-inclined, I'd go with those two chains.

WHOAAAAAA!!!

That's their main thing here. They have a pretty itsy bitsy comic section.

That blows my mind!

If Newbury Comics has no CDs then what do they have? Only comics?

DangerousDarrin
06/23/08, 12:02 PM
Yeah. Exactly. It's like a comic book, trading card, blah blah blah place.

Edit: On second thought, sorry. I see newbury is only in the states. I'm thinking of a local place called like Newborn comics or something...

Does Nova Scotia not have music stores? I can pretty much find any album I want here.

if theres no music in nova scotia then what the hell is there there?

DangerousDarrin

Nova Scotia has music stores. They have HMV, CD Plus, Future Shop and Best Buy. Future shop and Best Buy are both owned by the same company, they have very mainstream stuff. HMV has all kinds of stuff, but it practically has to be released in the past year for them to have it in stock and then again, it'll probably be like 22.99 plus tax because it's the last or only copy of the CD they have.

CD Plus just isn't very good in general for prices.

These bands aren't known enough around here. I want to go to NH for the no tax and awesome prices anyways.

IWasaCamera (http://www.absolutepunk.net/member.php?u=118832), where do you get your CDs in Montreal?

Quick question, are the prices on the Newbury Comics web site the same as their stores prices?

SickOfStars

give or take a few dollars. I know person/people that work there if you need a price check on anything specific. When I have money I tend to go fairly often, but getting a summer job is a work one month in progress...

Thanks a lot. Without you telling me, I would've never went to Newbury and I would've been going to Best Buy and finding nothing.

What's bad about FYE? Expensive? It's seems very HMV-ish, the CD store here.

I'm very excited. I'm going mainly to MA for Six Flags, but no tax is awesome! The tax here is 13 per cent it used to be 15. So you can imagine my excitement.

HMV and FYE sound like the same thing.

18.99 american bucks for a CD of 10-12 songs = absurd

I work at HMV so I get them there.

18.99 is pretty common for a new CD here. :-(

aren't canada bucks still different from FREEDOM BUCKS though? oh, I sicken me

I remember walking into a Canadian gift shop on my first foray up there and seeing really really crappy sunglasses on a rack next to post cards for 30 dollars. I tugged on my mom's sleeve and was basically like "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!" which translated into (AMERICAN CONSUMER MINDSET BLOWN. IT MAKE-A NO SENSE). She then told me they were different. Mind still = blown.

Maybe if you didn't have free health care cd's and goods wouldn't be overpriced and overtaxed, eh?

Montreal.

I'm not stupid. I buy all kinds of CDs online, but getting them from NH is way easier, as the shipping to Canada is ridiculously high. Say if I wanted to buy a CD from Ferret Records or something, the shipping starts at 15 dollars. That's more than there CDs cost!
