This was an event for Weezer fans who sent in videos of themselves playing their instruments to weezer songs and won their way into this event held at a secret location.
The location was a seemingly deserted former marine base in Alameda, CA where Scott used to be stationed.
Winners were required to bring instruments to play a long with the band and this led to some very interesting solos: Accordions & clarinets during "Island in the sun" & trumpets during "Say it ain't so".
The harmonica solo in "Beverly Hills" was also great.
They have done 4 of these I believe - I know at least in LA, Portland, Phoenix & SF.
The 6 songs were recorded for what I'm guessing will be an exclusive EP sometime.
The idea was spawned by Rivers after his mom talked to him about how her & her friends used just sit and play songs they knew.
It worked well & here's the set:
Pork & Beans
Island in the sun - only song that took 2 takes to get right
Creep (Radiohead Cover) - sung by Scott
Say it Ain't so
El Scorcho - sung by Brian
Beverly Hills
