Jason Tate vs. CIWWAF

I know this has been mentioned in many threads, but I have a question for Jason Tate or anyone who has the lowdown on this ridiculous one-sided battle. Why does Tate even make the arguments he does?

The auto-tune claim is incredibly irrelevant; auto-tune is a standard in the music industry these days, and I'm positive that almost every band Tate loves uses auto-tune as well. If the point is that they abuse the auto-tune, then after listening to both CDs of theirs multiple times you can tell that the auto-tune is not used any more than it is for many other bands, especially in the mainstream.

Also, bitching about how they got the money to record their first CD is equally lame; so many bands have crazy stories about how they stumbled upon success or were given the opportunity to record without what most would consider the appropriate level of merit at the time (Panic, Tate?).

I don't quite understand why you have it in for this band Mr. Tate, but your main points as to why you hate them seem a little ridiculous. Go see if you can spot the tune-ups on Mindy's vocals on your beloved Lydia CD.

Note: I am by no means an avid CIWWAF fan; I actually think their new CD is pretty weak.

A lot of people don't get on terribly well with Tate on this forum, actually. He isn't the worst member of staff, but he does come off as overly arrogant (with cause, but it can still be annoying) and there is the group on the site that worships him. That and the reasons the OP highlighted concerning music tastes, he'll bash on someone for listening to something really shitty then turn around and praise Bands with hardly more artistic merit. Its not like he is the only one, you just expect more out of some.

I personally can say that I was implying that maybe that wasn't the smartest thing to do on this site. Because as you said, Tate had a loyal following. So starting a thread to try to get people to agree with him may not work out well.

I do think that the OP had some decent points, I just think that we are not the ones to be telling it to.

Unfounded? Did you read the first post? Tons of bands you love use auto-tune and many got success in random, unexpected and sometimes unearned ways. THAT is what I said CIWWAF had in common, and I was just wondering why this band in particular earned your extreme hatred.

A lot of people don't get on terribly well with Tate on this forum, actually. He isn't the worst member of staff, but he does come off as overly arrogant (with cause, but it can still be annoying) and there is the group on the site that worships him. That and the reasons the OP highlighted concerning music tastes, he'll bash on someone for listening to something really shitty then turn around and praise Bands with hardly more artistic merit. Its not like he is the only one, you just expect more out of some.

I know this has been mentioned in many threads, but I have a question for Jason Tate or anyone who has the lowdown on this ridiculous one-sided battle. Why does Tate even make the arguments he does?

The auto-tune claim is incredibly irrelevant; auto-tune is a standard in the music industry these days, and I'm positive that almost every band Tate loves uses auto-tune as well. If the point is that they abuse the auto-tune, then after listening to both CDs of theirs multiple times you can tell that the auto-tune is not used any more than it is for many other bands, especially in the mainstream.

Also, bitching about how they got the money to record their first CD is equally lame; so many bands have crazy stories about how they stumbled upon success or were given the opportunity to record without what most would consider the appropriate level of merit at the time (Panic, Tate?).

I don't quite understand why you have it in for this band Mr. Tate, but your main points as to why you hate them seem a little ridiculous. Go see if you can spot the tune-ups on Mindy's vocals on your beloved Lydia CD.

Note: I am by no means an avid CIWWAF fan; I actually think their new CD is pretty weak.

I think it helps that Tate has private messages from Fred (ex-CIWWAF) that call out the bands on the lies they told AP.net

Got this CD in this afternoon brand new and that sticker made me all warm and fuzzy. Outstanding release.

On topic, I have never listened to CIWWAF. I have their debut but never had the time to spin it. I still plan on to someday and then doing the same for Rotation amidst anything that anyone has stated, oblivious fact or disregarded opinion. Also, no one's opinion should ever garner so many insecurities in another to cause so much discrepancy (see: this ridiculous thread).

My point is, you go out of your way to talk shit this band, when, as I said earlier, there's a plethora of bands that I would consider just as terrible and pathetic. So why the hate? If they personally attacked you, then I can understand.
