The new stuff is great.

I don't hate Radiohead, but its all slow and bland.

Get OK Computer. It was the first album that I was truly aware of at the time of it's release and just a great album through and through. If you want something poppier, go with The Bends. And it seems most Radiohead fans would call Kid A their best, but while you might like it, it's probably the least safe bet that you would enjoy.

I actually really enjoy the new album. Some of the melodies they come up with are actually pretty interesting and catchy, such as in Buffalo!

If you haven't listened to it, give it a chance, and although Jon Mess' vocals can be a little hard to bear at times, try to overlook that.

It is raw though, if you listen to it it hasn't been effected or anything like that, it's just his pure screaming voice, I dunno, it's more about the energy for me with stuff like that.

I just like that he did his own thing with it, shows he doesn't really care if it isn't the "best scream".

I know a lot of people didn't like his screaming, but it did something for me, I liked how it was raw sounding and he wasn't trying to sound like every other heavy vocalist in similar genres,

I personally think it really helped to give DGD a signature sound, the contrast between him and Jonny, and now Kurt, just really worked for me.

Having said that, I can see how it would fuck people off big time. Well he's gone now, wonder who they're gonna get in? Or if Will will keep it up?

Emarosa's full length wasn't bad - it had a couple of tracks which drenched it in potential, but it never really caught fire.

I never even made it to those songs. I just know that the "good song" Heads or Tails, Real or Not was terrible.

Kurt was really good live and watching the band itself was phenomenal. I've always wanted to see them live, since their "Royal Ocean" days. At this time, Jon Mess, Johnny Craig (obviously) and Eric (i forgot his last name, the bassist) had already left the band already. Although I'd love to see the original line-up.

In my personal opinion, the new S/T/The Death Star Album is probably the best work they've ever put out. It just takes a bit to grow on you. I'm glad Johnny left because with him in it, i don't think the new release would suit his style of singing.

yeah i listened to it again after i wrote that post and i don't mind the new album. It is different and I will say that the vocals just aren't as BIG (i'm tired, i can't think of the words), but you get that. I wouldn't expect the vocals to be exactly the same anyways.

Mozart Season has posted a new song http://www.myspace.com/mozartseason that features Jon Mess screaming. Check it out, it's Jon's first recording since the Self-Titled "Deathstar" Album. It seems there were mixed feelings about his screams, but in this track his scream has a little bit different style to it.

I think the deathstar album is just as good as downtown battle mountain, i guess they do miss jonny's vocals a little. I might checkout that new mozart season song...

I saw them with Senses Fail, Foxy Shazam!, and SkyEatsAirplane. That show was 50% good.

Dance Gavin Dance were better than I expected, but seriously, they had the fucking sound of a high school band that was not playing together.

Foxy Shazam was entertaining, which I think is their goal.

Senses Fail were decent, for what they are.

Downtown Battle Mountain was their best, they probably won't ever top it. S/T wasn't half bad, just some of the lyrics were shitty...but to be honest I don't pay attention to this band for the lyrics.

Dance Gavin Dance are a good band.
Fall of Troy are a good band.

Personally I prefer the old DGD singers vocals, but the new singer fairs pretty well too :)

Same here. DBM is definitely my favourite release from them. The majority of S/T lyrics were downright embarassing.

Yeah it took me quite a while to get into them. It takes a few listens to get the hooks, and when you do the tracks are awesome. They have such an odd sound which i have embraced.
